Translation of German version

edit

Can somebody provide a good translation of the German version of this article? --Der Sporkmeister 15:07, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Page name

  • 16:22, 2 May 2006 Philip Baird Shearer m (moved Volksgerichtshof to People's Court (German): Use English)
  • 16:26, 2 May 2006 Philip Baird Shearer (replace Volksgerichtshof with People's Court)
  • 12:17, 25 May 2006 Philip Baird Shearer (Not a loan word)
  • 20:01, 2 June 2006 Kelisi m (moved People's Court (German) to Volksgerichtshof: It is most commonly known under this name, and not the English translation that makes it sound like Judge Wapner's TV tribunal.)
  • 23:25, 2 June 2006 Philip Baird Shearer m (moved Volksgerichtshof to People's Court (German): Policy WP:NC. Beevor uses it in , Berlin: The Downfall 1945, Page 74)

"Use English" See WP:NC#Use English words. Kelisi, where do you get your information that "It is most commonly known [in English] under this name"?

What is the difference between the naming of this article and the naming of the Supreme People's Court (最高人民法院; pinyin: Zuìgāo Rénmín Fǎyuàn)? --Philip Baird Shearer 09:47, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lubbe?

edit

Lubbe is listed as having been sentenced to death by the court. The page for the Reichstag fire says: "the Leipzig Trial took place and was presided over by judges from the old German Imperial High Court, the Reichsgericht." Also, most of the people accused in this trial were found not guilty, which does not sound much like the workings of the people's court. -- 80.186.89.217 04:50, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Attribution

edit

The section on the February 1945 bombing came from our article on Roland Freisler, but was inserted without cites. I have added cites from that article to this one, and have also used cites from the articles in German and French wikipedias on the court and Freisler. I have accepted the cites on good faith and have not reviewed the sources on which they are based with the exception of those available online. Kablammo (talk) 08:06, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Direct cause of foundation

edit

K.C.Lammers documents the direct reason of foundation of the Volksgericht in Goebbels TB 2/III, entry 9 Nov. ‘33. Specifically, Goebbels arguments against the communist leadership’s responsibility for the Reichstag fire were dismissed by the Reichsgericht judges, which he declared a reason to establish “a court protecting the German people”. 193.91.124.69 (talk) 19:44, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
