Time Signature
editThe article makes the unsourced claim that "The main refrain of the song is in the odd time signature of 7/4". I don't think this is correct. By counting the time myself, it appears to be in measures of 3 and 4, but not strictly alternating to produce measures of seven beats. I understand that counting the time myself is original research, so I'm not changing the article to reflect this, but it's enough to convince me that the stated time signature needs some support, if not an outright correction. --Heath 71.62.123.39 (talk) 16:49, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a 5 bar pattern. HEAD -> 7/4, 7/4, 11/8, 15/8, 19/8 -> SOLOS (in 4/4) --Andrew —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.210.117.75 (talk) 12:14, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
If you're going to be citing blogs as sources, may as well cite the only blog that accurately states the the time signature breakdown instead of this nonsense about 11/8 and 15/8. http://iknowhuh.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/pointer-culture-funk/ -Erich
Except the blog contains nonsense - "slowed-down 7/8 time signature"??? It is also no longer available. There are several transcriptions of this song, incorporating different approaches to breaking up the song into bars. What is clear is that the rhythm starts in 7s, includes other complex rhythmic structures, except in the improvisation section which is in 4/4. This does not need to be cited - it is apparent to any musician on listening. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.30.213.245 (talk) 00:58, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
