Requested move (2005)
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
Plasma commonly refers to both the state of matter and the blood component; neither usage is so overwhelming as to merit being placed at Plasma. — Knowledge Seeker দ 04:18, 30 November 2005 (UTC) Also, it appears the current disambiguation page was created in May 2005 when an editor copied and pasted the previously existing Plasma page to Plasma (disambiguation), then changed it to redirect to Plasma (physics). Regardless of the outcome of this discussion, an administrator will probably have to merge histories to repair the cut-and-paste. — Knowledge Seeker দ 04:40, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

I agree that Plasma should be moved to Plasma (disambiguation). As it's written, it's clearly a disambiguation page and so should follow our naming standards. Rklawton (talk) 02:52, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Page moves
editI am posting here because I noticed that this page appeared to be a partially completed page move request. Currently, Plasma (physics) redirects to Plasma, but Talk:Plasma (physics) does not redirect to Talk:Plasma. There is also the issue of Plasma (disambiguation) being moved to Plasma. When consensus has been reached on what should be done regarding these articles, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to complete the move request. I am cross-posting this to Talk:Plasma (physics) as I am unsure which set of articles are being actively monitored. Thank you! --HappyCamper 21:07, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

picture
editWhy is there a picture of a plasma lamp on a disambiguation page?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.20.217.96 (talk • contribs) 21:02, September 3, 2006.
- Why not? The picture does not detract from a user finding the link they want quickly. Extraneous text on dab pages is bad; a picture is pretty harmless.--Srleffler 05:09, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, the picture also includes a link for plasma lamp, which would belong on a dab page. --Kevin (TALK) 01:35, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree, a candle flame does produce a small amount of ionization, so the picture is appropiate in my opinion. Neil Ccpoodle 23:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Remove It adds nothing to the page.--72.74.112.203 (talk) 22:46, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Don't you think a picture would add more to a plasma article?--72.74.112.203 (talk) 03:37, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Applications of plasma (physics)
editIf we start listing all the applications of plasmas (in the physics sense) here, it will get out of control. The job of this page is just to help people along who don't know that plasma can mean different things. If they come looking for a plasma lamp or a plasma window, most will be bright enough to realize they should go to plasma (physics) rather than blood plasma. I would be in favor of not giving any specific applications at all, but someone made the case that the most likely reason people will come looking for plasma (physics) is because they want to find plasma display. I can live with that. But please don't overload this dab page with additional special cases of plasma applications. --Art Carlson 08:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

This is a disambiguation page. Shouldn't it be named "Plasma (disambiguation)"? Rklawton (talk) 16:39, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Most important uses
editWhat are probably by far the two most important article and possibly real world usages of the word "plasma" without additional disambiguating words seems to be "blood plasma" and "plasma (physics)". I thought that people should be able to find them on the disambiguation page without having to scroll down. I am not sure that I came up with the most elegant solution, and I welcome others to change or revert my edits, as they see fit. At the moment, "plasma (physics)" is currently in the introduction and "blood plasma" is at the top of the first category. -- Kjkolb (talk) 00:33, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
