Why is the name of this article "Platform Party"?
editI have no idea how and why the English translated name of 더불어시민당 is "Platform Party." 더불어 means 'together' then 시민 means 'citizen' and 당 means 'party' which in no way becomes the "Platform Party." Is this another case of someone somehow mistranslating a Korean party name? It's quite the big difference in translation, no? boldblazer (talk) 12:20, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- You're true, as "더불어시민당" is literally translated as "Together Citizens' Party". But translations used by newspapers are quite vary. Some newspapers use the term of "Civil Together" (without the word "Party").--Jolin254 (talk) 06:43, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Here Namuwiki says the English name of this party is "Platform Party", but Namuwiki is not a reliable source. Maybe they put it as the party's "official name", but no way to find the official English name of South Korea parties (as South Korea is not an English-speaking country).--Jolin254 (talk) 06:45, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
I'll provide the English names used by various media in here.
- Civil Together (as you can see, "Civil Together" is normally used by The Korea Times)
- Together Citizens' Party
- Platform Party
