Empty sections?
editI notice the sections following the stalin years are empty or nearly so. Perhaps the page should be flagged incomplete?
Old talk
editthe question, what does the politburo do is not answered.
- Haha. It elects the "General Secretary" (i.e. Stalins position, etc) which is a type of president (but not as powerful).

Rashidov's death
editIt says on this page that Rashidov committed suicide. On the page for Sharof Rashidov that "Sometimes it is claimed that Rashidov committed suicide, but in reality he died from a heart attack." Someone needs to figure out which is true and correct the appropriate page. Baron von HoopleDoople (talk) 00:14, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Single list vs. decade lists
editI notice the linked lists of Politburo members by decade seem to be in different formats. Some of them simply duplicate a section of the list here, but others have more data and one has a history section. Is there any reason not to consolidate these into a single sortable table, either here or at List of members of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union? There would be about 180 entries, which would not be out of line with comparable lists (e.g. List of United States Navy four-star admirals, List of Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, List of members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (LDS Church).) - Morinao (talk) 18:55, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- If you can shorten a list down, you should shorten a list down. Its the same thing with articles, if you can make separate articles (and not a huge one, you do that). This page is for information on how the Politburo worked, not its members. --TIAYN (talk) 21:14, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- I think there's every reason to have a single list article, rather than the poorly formatted, inconsistent, and repetitive combined list. It'd also be lovely to list them chronologically by appointment, rather than alphabetically. john k (talk) 02:41, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

In the following sentence: "For instance, by 1929, leading party members began criticized the party apparatus, represented by the Secretariat headed by Stalin, of having to much control over personnel decisions." please change the phrase "to much control" to "too much control" for grammatical correctness. Thank you. Jonesyme (talk) 16:06, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Done - Ive also changed criticized to criticizing - Arjayay (talk) 17:30, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Kirov
editIt is treated as possible that Kirov was killed by a "madman". A madman cannot arrange for Borisov's death the next day. In the Secret Speech, broad hints were dropped that Stalin killed Kirov. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.192.50 (talk) 13:04, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
- The article on Sergey Kirov does not even mention the madman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.192.50 (talk) 13:08, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Candidate member
editThe phrase "candidate member" is used several times without a definition. One gets the impression that it is some kind of lesser membership than full membership? David.Monniaux (talk) 18:31, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
