The result of the move request was: Moved. No opposition, and the proposed title was the stable name from 2005 to 2015. — Amakuru (talk) 10:39, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
Port Adelaide Football Club best and fairest → John Cahill Medal – This page was moved to the generic name of "Port Adelaide Football Club best and fairest" with the rationale of "the current award name of "John Cahill Medal" has only been in place since 1997 and ignores the rich history of the award"; there are numerous name changes of awards which do not "ignore" the history of the award, but they are simply a changed name. Many reliable sources use John Cahill Medal as the award name per [1], [2][3], [4], [5], [6] and the club even use John Cahill Medal [7], [8], and this is also in line with WP:NAMECHANGES. The navbox still uses "John Cahill Medal" per {{John Cahill Medal}} along with the category of winners Category:John Cahill Medal winners, another example of an award name change in the AFL was West Coast's best and fairest in 2013 to John Worsfold Medal and all relevant pages have been moved to the changed name.
