Duplicate information

edit

It would seem that this page and List of premiers of China are basically the same thing. Shouldn't this be deleted? MagnoliaSouth (talk) 14:17, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, they're not the same. List of premiers of China is a disambiguation page that links to both this page and to List of premiers of the Republic of China (which we also call Taiwan). Hmoulding (talk) 15:26, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

doesnt this translate better to "First Citizen"?

Re: chart of list of premiers

edit

i think that the chronological chart of the list of premiers is difficult to read and also a lot bigger than it needs to be. There have not been many premiers of the PRC, so a list should do fine.

I think there's something wrong with the dates and names. The dates on the pictures are not consistent with the dates in the chart. Hmoulding (talk) 15:22, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Changed politburo statement

edit

I changed the statement about the Premier being nominated by the Politburo, because it's more complex. Party elders and people not formally in the politburo have some influence. Also, it's not the current politburo that matters but the previous one.

National People's Congress

edit

Does the Premier have to be a member of the National People's Congress before being pikced as the premier, or can he or she be a party member elected from without/outside the congress? This would probably be something that should be made more clear on the page. --Criticalthinker (talk) 05:51, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

– Per the recent move of the President of the People's Republic of China article to the President of China. When people are searching for the "premier/vice premier/vice president of China", they are most certainly searching for the premier/vice premier/vice president of the PRC, meaning WP:COMMONNAME and Wikipedia:PRIMARYTOPIC applies. My reasoning with the page moves is that these days, virtually no one refers to the Republic of China as just "China." You can see this in the new ROC President Lai Ching-te's inauguration speech last month, where he refers to the PRC as just "China." Similarly, in an interview with Time, Lai again repeatedly refers to the PRC as just "China." I would also note that the "Premier of the People's Republic of China" is referred to simply as the "Premier of China" among many WP:RS, as can be seen from here: 1 2 3 4. Likewise, the same is true for the Vice President of China 1 2 and the Vice Premier of China 1, 2, 3.
I also think not moving these pages after moving the "President of the People's Republic of China" to the "President of China" breaks WP:Consistency in article titles. The Account 2 (talk) 08:25, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
