Scope
editThis article should be generalized to deal with all professional Scouters across the world. There is quite a story behind the Field Commissioners (as the professional Scouters were called) in the UK. If this is not acceptable, it should at least be moved to Professional Scouter (Boy Scouts of America). --Bduke (Discussion) 03:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think it should be moved. If there were another article on prfessional scouters ... Rather than generalize it, it should be expanded. Why don't you creat an article on Field Commissioners? --evrik (talk) 19:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
This article has now got a great longer and the prospect of generalizing it to a world view seems very difficult. Since it is entirely concerned with the BSA, I affirm even more strongly than in November that this should be moved to Professional Scouter (Boy Scouts of America). It is unacceptable as it stands. --Bduke (Discussion) 10:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I have not changed my view about this rename. The title should reflect that it is a country article not an international article. I have drawn the attention of the Scouting Project to this proposal to get more eyes on it. --Bduke (Discussion) 02:23, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Moved. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 02:48, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. The links to Professional Scouter, which is a redirect now, should be altered so that page can become a disambiguation page as more articles on professional Scouters are written. I'll have a go at some of them. --Bduke (Discussion) 05:21, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- Created the disambig, all remaining links are to talkpages and such.--Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 06:52, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- I have reverted your change. A disambiguation page with 1 entry will not survive. We need other articles. One on Field Commissioners in the UK is the best bet, but I do not even know if they are still called that these days. I do not have the time anyway to write it yet. --Bduke (Discussion) 07:07, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Capitalization
editSee The Language of Scouting, especially the section on capitalization. Chief Scout Executive refers to a specific position, where Scout executive could refer to any of the 298 councils. See also Position Definitions. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 11:35, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
