Don't confuse them with Morton's festival
editThis should not be confused with the Morton Pumpkin Festival of Morton, IL. Too bad our page doesn't exist yet. Will (Talk - contribs) 07:46, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Confusing
editThe following paragraph is a little confusing.
"In 2010, the Keene Pumpkin Festival organizers, Center Stage Cheshire County, announced they plan to step down from running the event, leaving it in limbo for 2011, unless another organizer takes over the event.[4][5]. It has been announced the Pumpkin Festival will continue and is scheduled to take place October 22nd, 2011. The festival has secured new organizers, please see website: http://pumpkinfestival2011.org/"
First it was appropriate when there was question of whether or not the PumpkinFest would continue. But once a new organizer came along the paragraph should have been edited to make it clear that there was question as to whether or not the 2011 festival would occur. The second and third sentences do make that clear. However, the first sentence actually makes it sound as if the future of the festival is still in question including whether or not the festival will be held in 2011. While there should be some question as to whether or not Let It Shine will host the festival again in 2012, the question of the 2011 festival taking place has been answered. So something should be reworded. Perhaps the paragraph should read as
"In 2010, the Keene Pumpkin Festival organizers, Center Stage Cheshire County, announced they planned to step down from running the event, leaving it in limbo for 2011, unless another organizer were to take over the event.[4][5]. 2013 Record
editWho entered the 2013 record? The number is incorrect. I was taking video at the time they made the announcement and just went over the announcment, it was 30,589, not 30,581. I'll upload the video to YouTube and try posting the link here for folks to hear the announcement. -anonymous 10/19/2013 11:33 PM — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.92.130.137 (talk) 03:39, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
- 30,581 is the number given in the Keene Sentinel article. I just added the reference for it. I don't know who first added the figure, but it doesn't matter who, does it? As long as it's verifiable. --Ken Gallager (talk) 12:55, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Not The 25th
editI wish Laconia all the best, but it is not The 25th New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival. It is the First!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.150.96.1 (talk) 13:03, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- You're personal views are valued, however, that is not the case and here on Wikipedia we stick with the facts. Thank you. Steve Lux, Jr. (talk) 16:22, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response, but the fact is that there is no more Keene Pumpkin Festival. Any festival that starts this year is brand new and is in Year 1. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.150.96.1 (talk) 17:12, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- The anonymous editor seems unaware that the same group that organized the previous Pumpkinfests in Keene are still organizing this year's one in Laconia. The new festival occurring this year in Swanzey may be notable enough after a few years and sufficient press coverage to warrant its own article under Monadnock Pumpkin Festival. I would recommend against starting such an article now, though, because at this point it would merely be an advertisement. --Ken Gallager (talk) 19:21, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- This anonymous editor is very much aware that the same group who has only done 3 pumpkin festivals (yes, I know because I attended EVERY pumpkin festival since the start)is starting a NEW festival in Laconia. Best of luck to them, but please do not take the accolades and notoriety that belongs to the now defunct Keene pumpkin festival. As you suggested above, you need to build your own notoriety and fame. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.150.96.1 (talk) 13:24, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- The exact same can be said about the Laconia Pumpkin Festival. Calling the Keene Pumpkin Festival the Let It Shine Pumpkin Festival is retroactively changing history. It was never called that in the first 24 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pumpkintruth (talk • contribs) 12:37, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Let it Shine is falsely trying to lay claim to the first 20 years of the Keene Pumpkin Festival. The festival began in 1991, and Let It Shine took over the organizing in 2011. The only organized it for 4 years before Keene stopped. Let It Shine then organized another one in Laconia but is falsely claiming it to be the 25th. If anything it is Laconia's first or Let It Shine's 5th. It can't even be considered the 25th NH Pumpkin Festival because Keene isn't the only community to hold a pumpkin festival, and if anybody has the right to that 25th anniversary claim this year, it is Milford.
The Keene Pumpkin Festival is the Keene Pumpkin Festival REGARDLESS of the person or group that is responsible for organizing it in any particular year. Pumpkintruth (talk) 12:28, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

- IT IS TOTALLY FACTUAL. The article already implies as much. Let it Shine only took over in 2011. How is that not a fact? Pumpkintruth (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 12:44, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

- So the heading is called the Let It Shine Pumpkin Festival. Let it Shine started a pumpkin festival in 2011. It is now 2015.
- 2015 - 2011 = 25? Gotcha. Totally factual. Not.
- As far as me not being able to change my answer status, I merely followed the instructions that wikipedia left! Pumpkintruth (talk)
