This did not exist in 1977
editThis did not exist in 1977, it was released on March 2, 1978. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 240D:1A:8AF:4D00:9082:157E:FA92:FE25 (talk) 13:50, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
RELEASED ON MARCH 2, 1978
editThis was released in Japan on March 2, 1978. NOT 1977 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 240F:31:34B4:1:E9EE:76C5:A89A:F05C (talk) 15:11, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Confirm
editI need someone to confirm what I wrote! I'm not even sure what I wrote about :P — Preceding unsigned comment added by Splintax (talk • contribs) 12:22, April 21, 2005
Incorrect title
editThis article previously incorrectly stated that this album was unofficially called Condition Critical after the release of the second (also) eponymous album, but this is incorrect. This is the title of a different later album. (from allmusic.com) Postglock 17:20, 30 May 2005 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: page moved. Apparently uncontroversial. Consider this as the R of WP:BRD. Any further proposal for a move should first be discussed. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:09, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Quiet Riot (1978 album) → Quiet Riot (1977 album) – The album was released in 1977, according to Allmusic and Discogs. Pete Prown says 1977 and so does Martin Popoff, who specifies a date of March 2, 1977. The article was moved earlier without reason or discussion. It should be moved back. He made a mistake in his book, ask the man yourself. He is aware of his mistake. This album was released in 1978, I have lived in Japan since 1971 and I was there when this album came out in real time. 1978, not 1977. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 240D:1A:8AF:4D00:C4AD:9601:5C3A:436 (talk) 13:53, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Well, his book is wrong. I was alive and well, living in Japan since 1971 and this did not come out in 1977. It came out in March 1978 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 240D:1A:8AF:4D00:D8AE:4E80:D7B9:ACAF (talk) 11:26, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. There appears to be consensus that the sourcing supports a move to Quiet Riot (1978 album). (closed by non-admin page mover) Jack Frost (talk) 13:07, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
Quiet Riot (1977 album) → Quiet Riot (1978 album) – The The disc, after all, was released on 2 March 1978.[1]

- Oppose. At the last move request I cited some sources saying 1977, namely AllMusic, Pete Prown's book, and especially Martin Popoff who specifies a date of March 2, 1977. These sources haven't disappeared in the meantime. Binksternet (talk) 23:49, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Martin Strong's Great Rock Disco. books has a 1978 release year. I don't know how reliable the "QUIET RIOT UNOFFICIAL DATABASE" is though. Someone must have a phyiscal copy of the album to check this. I've dropped a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Metal. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:51, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- The date on the album itself won't help – it will be the copyright date of the songs, not necessarily the release date. Richard3120 (talk) 17:46, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- That "UNOFFICIAL DATABASE" does not look especially reliable to me (in terms of Wikipedia WP:Reliable sources), although it is probably a good-faith effort to be factually correct. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:49, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- It's pretty clear from primary source material in Japanese that this was actually released in 1978, not 1977. The physical album also says 1978. However, it's also true that sources in English tend to cite 1977. With so many conflicting sources, my individual agreement that the current date is wrong is not too helpful. For what it's worth, their profile at Sony Music Japan starts their release history in 1978: https://www.sonymusic.co.jp/artist/QuietRiot/profile/ Dekimasuよ! 15:29, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose, move to Quiet Riot (album) per standard naming conventions. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 15:38, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- But this is not the only album that is commonly called Quiet Riot, so that title would be ambiguous WP:INCOMPLETEDAB. There has apparently been substantial confusion over the name of the other album, and this Japan-only release seems relatively obscure. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Support per Dekimasu comments. The physical album is a reliable offline WP:ABOUTSELF source, AFAIK. Sony Music Japan also seems reliable, although not independent, and apparently per Lugnuts (Martin Strong's Great Rock Disco) those are not the only sources that say 1978. I don't think the band would release something in 1977 that says it is from 1978. The vice-versa case seems more plausible. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:25, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- As I stated above, the copyright year on the album itself is not necessarily the release year, they are two completely different things. Richard3120 (talk) 15:17, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the copyright year is not necessarily the release year. But nobody would declare a copyright year that is after the release year. And what the article title needs is the release year, not the copyright year. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:34, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- Got it. Yes, if it says 1978 as the copyright date, then it's very likely that's the release year as well. Richard3120 (talk) 19:03, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- In case it wasn't clear, I support the move on the merits; it just requires us to evaluate which sources are more reliable, and in this case, while they are not as easy to look at, the Japanese sources are more reliable about things that happened in Japan. Dekimasuよ! 00:45, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
