editWHAT ABOUT SOME STATS ON THER SHIP PEOPLE!!!!
I have no idea how to add links and do not have enough time but the Calypso will not be a static exhibit as stated in this article. Please see here http://www.cousteau.org/news/calypso-saved and here for details on its new propulsion engines http://www.cousteau.org/news/engines —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.205.198.22 (talk) 12:10, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I added length from a recent news article. Oddly, there are no statistics on the Cousteau Society's website. Also, note that the article BYMS-class minesweeper states a different initial length of 41 meters; but perhaps the Calypso was extended during her service.Truth or consequences-2 (talk) 21:10, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Much of the Article Reads like a Political Opinion Piece
editTo little coverage has been given to the long active history of the Calypso and to much political coverage has been given to the disputes surrounding the Calypso's fate. That would be best covered in another article about restoring the Calypso. Most come here to read about the exploits in her active career and not a second wife fighting with Cousteau's first wife's children and the shipyard in charge of her restoration. I cannot say I am surprised as wikipedia is becoming more and more a place for people and admins included if not the puppet masters of promoting personal opinions and agendas. 172.56.11.75 (talk) 00:57, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Videogame trivia
editPeople keep adding a random piece of trivia about a model of Calypso being included in a videogame - this is the article about the real life ship, not a videogame guide. The addition of trivia to articles is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia - to be included needs in-depth coverage of the item in a WP:RS - see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trivia sections.Nigel Ish (talk) 21:07, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
