Rashad el-Ghanushi → Rached Ghannouchi – per WP:COMMONNAME: Many different Romanised spellings of the name are used. The current title (since User:Tounsimentounes's undiscussed move on 7 September) is totally uncommon. It may reflect the Tunisian Arabic pronunciation, but this is irrelevant for en.wp, because we conventionally use the most common name in English-language sources. The most common variant seems to be Rached Ghannouchi (used on his personal website, by the Time Magazine, Foreign Policy, BBC). Chatham House uses "Rached" in this text, but "Rachid" is printed on the award trophy. "Rached Ghannouchi" yields ca. 132 google books hits vs. 107 for "Rachid Ghannouchi", ca. 58 for "Rachid al-Ghannouchi" (used by britannica), 46 for "Rashid al-Ghannushi", 0(!) for the current title "Rashad el-Ghanushi"). The "Rached" variant seems to be the most common and is also favored by the subject himself. RJFF (talk) 13:23, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- Ok i'll move it to Rached, actually Rachid seemed off like another name. Rached is read Rashad in english that's why I put it on that formTounsimentounes (talk)
- Support. Most common spelling in English. Abjiklɐm (tɐlk) 03:20, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
