List
editI moved list of radio stations in invercargill new zealand to radio stations in invercargill because in my opinion that's the most suitable name for it. Thanks, Scottdelaney1067
- This isn't about votes, it is about guidelines. Most lists of topics that might have their own articles are "Lists of" articles. I'm pretty sure this should be "List of" something. The reason I had already moved it to "List of radio stations in Invercargill, New Zealand" was for this reason, including the country as it was a potential searchable term. I'm open to any name as long as it is supported in WP:LISTS Dennis Brown (talk) 02:45, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. Per Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists)#Naming conventions, a list should be named "List of" whatever things are listed. It would be hard to argue that the contents of this page are anything but a "list", as there is virtually nothing expository on the page. A page that included a summary of historical developments in the field would merit different considerations, but this does no more than list the applicable entities. bd2412 T 21:09, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to List of radio stations in Invercargill – the bold, if hasty, renaming got the case wrong. Favonian (talk) 21:05, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Radio stations in Invercargill → List of radio stations in Invercargill – This article is pretty clearly a list, so moving it to a "List of" title would seem to be proper according to Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists)#Naming conventions. bd2412 T 16:48, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Support for reasons given previously, to List of radio stations in Invercargill, New Zealand, which is where it was before the last move. There is also a List of radio stations in Invercargill (a redirect now), but adding New Zealand makes it more specific and might be useful when someone is searching generically for radio stations in New Zealand.Dennis Brown (talk) 17:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Invercargill is only in New Zealand (unlike, for example, Georgia, which is both a U.S. state and a European country, or Springfield, which is an exceedingly common municipal name). Therefore, including "New Zealand" in the name would likely be redundant. bd2412 T 17:32, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- I knew that it wasn't needed to differentiate different cities, but if someone was searching for "radio stations in New Zealand", they would find the article more easily. I supposed the "new zealand" version can be a redirect and achieve a similar goal. I'm not saying it MUST be included, only that I think it would be more accurate as a title. I won't make a fuss if consensus or precedent says I'm off base here, and I would defer to your judgement if you think it is inappropriate to add the country in the title. Adding "List of", of course, IS required. Dennis Brown (talk) 19:42, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- I have moved it to include list of.--Scottdelaney1067 (talk) 23:16, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- Normally, when there is a discussion about moving an article, it is best to let the conversation go a week or so. I don't see any harm this time, but you might want to just keep that in mind in your next discussion, particularly if anyone disagrees. Dennis Brown (talk) 00:36, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
