I have the date 1351 as his enthronement listed in A Concise History of South-East Asia (a very modern book, see my buddhist timeline for an ISBN/amazon link). As such, I'll change the date to 1351 - change it back and comment here if there's a problem. - prat

I got the date 1350 from the book "Popular history of Thailand" by M.L. Manchin Jumsai (ISBN 9747390248), sixth edition from 2000. It is however quite short about the beginning of Ayutthaya, thus maybe we should try to find more sources first. andy 17:02 7 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Wyatt's "Thailand: A Short History" agrees with 1351. The date is given in a foreign calendar in the primary source (year 712, year of the Tiger, 2nd of the decade)- it may have been variously calculated as either 1350 or 1351, but the latter date seems to be more common. To clarify this let me cite here from the book Siam In Mind by David K. Wyatt (Silkworm Books Chiang Mai 2002, ISBN 974-7551-72-1):
"Thai schoolbooks and scholars cling tenaciously to the idea that Ayudhya was founded in 1350, having long ago been told that Lesser Era (chulasakkarat) years are converted to AD years by adding 638. The reason for the discrepancy is simple: the year 712 began on the 7th day of the waning moon of the 5th month, and continued until 713 began on the 1st day of the 6th month in the next year (365 days later), the interval being from 28 March 1350 to 28 March 1351. Thus the 6th day of the waxing moon of the 5th month did not occur until 4 March 1351 Julian calendar)."
So 1351 should be the correct year. --hdamm 16:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dubious references Apart from Wyatt, David K., Thailand: A Short History, the other references appear very dubious. 3rd, 4th and 5th paragraphs appear to make claims rather than facts. The mosque in Bangkok known correctly as Tonson Mosque, on their own website states that construction/plans by a Phraya Bavornrajanayok? (Sheikh Ahamad) started in B.E.2231(C.E.1688) during the reign of king Narai, renovated in B.E.2370 and reconstructed B.E.2497. http://www.tonsonmosque.com/about_history.php in Thai. Regardless I don't see how this is relevant to the actual article. Stbabo|talk|contributions 05:44, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

'Ramathibodi's Origin' There are variations of his origin. Different sources should be mentioned here on this topic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xtramanx (talkcontribs) 11:16, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
