Really? The Catalan Wikipedia -the Viquipèdia- says nothing about it. Although it's not clear, he might have joined the Libertad Battalion, made up of Spanish anarchists, that took part in the mopping-up of isolated German pockets on the Aquitanian coast in early 1945. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.8.98.118 (talk) 12:48, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Raised in the 1820s, the Carabiniers were a sort of excise, customs and anti-smuggling para-military constabulary. In the 1936 civil war on the Republican side the units raised under the title of Carabiniers had -on paper- elite status. They used to be issued with green uniforms -in different shades- and their march was more or less Los primeros en avanzar y los últimos en retroceder (The first ones in going ahead and the last ones in falling back). Due to this Republican connection, the corps was dismantled when the Francoists won the war and their pre-war duties were taken over by the Civil Guard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.8.98.118 (talk) 12:57, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
