edit

Just found out from DPD website, the insignia has the wrong color. So I made the new one with the proper color. The file is already in commons. Changing it now. barkahyusuf (talk) 23:28, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

on the statement "a third chamber"

edit

In the article there is a statement Together with the People's Representative Council, it makes up a third chamber, the People's Consultative Assembly

According to the 1945 Consitution (3rd Amendment), Article 2, MPR (People's Consultative Assembly) is simply a collective body of DPR and DPD, not a third chamber.

more or less tranlated as

Article 2 People's Consultative Assembly consists of members of People's Representative Council and members of Regional Representative Council which are elected through General Election and further regulated through Acts.

I think the statement (and the other one at the section Powers and Structure) should be amended. Logically speaking, if MPR is a third chamber Latin: camera, then the Legislative body of Indonesia would tricameral (three chambers), and it is not. By analogy, the United States Congress is the collective body of US Senate and US House of Representatives: the Senate is a chamber and the House is another chamber. Therefore, the US Congress is called bicameral (two chambers). The US Congress is not a third chamber, and the MPR (People's Consultative Assembly) is not either. The main difference in the leadership is that MPR members (i.e. members of both DPR and DPD) as collective body elect leadership of the the MPR (a chairperson and vice-chairpersons), aside from the leadership of each of the chambers; while US Congress members do not elect collective leadership.
