Curtis Mayfield "Think" not Beyonce's Resentment

edit

This particular song , as performed by Curtis Mayfield in "Think", is so filled with hope optimisim, triumph, and victory that I am unable to reconcile "resentments" -- the song is glad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.19.143.113 (talk) 13:00, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Resentment (Victoria Beckham song)Resentment (song) – Resentment (song), a song written by Walter W. Millsap III, Candice Nelson and Curtis Mayfield. The page is about the song 'Resentment' and mentions Victoria Beckham’s recording of it, though her version was never released as a single or on an album! Therefore, one presumes it was a demo that got shelved. I’m not sure that warrants a Wikipedia page! Certainly not a page title. It's a highly misleading title. The title should highlight the song, rather than the performers that have recorded it, especially as the majority of the article then goes on to discuss Beyonce's recording of the song, for which Beyoncé was credited as a co/writer (4 writer credits). Beyoncé’s version of the song was released on one of her hit albums. Over 75% of the article actually discusses Beyoncé’s version that has nothing to do with Victoria Beckham at all – Beckham’s connection comes across as being merely a pre-thought. A very misleading article title. It needs retitling to reflect the song rather than the performers that have recorded it (especially as Beckham did not have writing credits on the song, as does Beyoncé). Resentment (Victoria Beckham song)Resentment (Beyoncé song) – The original Victoria Beckham version of the song was only included as a bonus feature on an unrelated documentary DVD starring Victoria, since it was a shelved demo, and the song was never given an official release via a single or an album, hence her rendition never gained any notability. Secondly, the song's composition was modified significantly when it was picked up by Beyoncé (who gained writing credits as a result), plus most of this article's content only relates to the Beyoncé version. Hence, it should be accepted that this song should be retitled to more appropiately represent Beyoncé's version of the song. This differs from the previous move request (above), where moving to Resentment (song) was suggested instead. Theknine2 (talk) 07:02, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - sure, the rationale seems good. The first-recording disambiguator is a useful rule of thumb, but there will be occasional exceptions, and reader recognition is always the primary motivator.  — Amakuru (talk) 14:21, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
