name change
editSuggest this page is renamed to Ricardo plc as the correct name for the company. "Ricardo Consulting Engineers" refers to an old name for the company.
- agreed, moved to Ricardo plc Widefox (talk) 08:41, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Advert
editThis article reads like an advert to me, and also has no references. Please help improve this article, and only then remove the tags. Thank you, Widefox (talk) 08:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe it could be written in a more fluid style, but as it is written in a factual manner using a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view it is not advertising - I agree with the earlier anonymous editor, the advert tag should go. Ephebi (talk) 23:32, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- advert tag should stay until a cleanup, but I agree that without any references we're all stabbing in the dark. I don't agree it's factual or verifyable. claims like "investigations into the Stirling engine for fuel-efficiency - commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy in 1978, it has scope for use in hybrid engines" are just sales pitches. Widefox (talk) 08:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
This company has won the Royal Automobile Club Dewar Trophy twice:
2002 Ricardo plc for the development of its I-MoGen (Intelligent Motor Generator) mild hybrid vehicle
2005 Ricardo plc for its work on the development of the Dual Clutch Transmission technology as
exemplified by the DCT and Active 4WD for the Bugatti Veyron

I have provided two verifiable references from the LA Times for work done by Ricardo plc on behalf of Mazda. There is a difficulty when referencing consultancies as they are often tied by client confidentiality. This is a serious company working on cutting-edge technology around the world. McLaren MP4-12C
editRicardo have been involved with design and build of engine/gearbox on the McLaren MP4-12C - can anybody say where these components will be manufactured? Rupertlt (talk) 15:56, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Ricardo manufactures the V8 engine for the MP4-12C, not the transmission. Manufacturing is at Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex, UK. DavidPaygate (talk) 14:59, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Further information is available at Harry Ricardo#Ricardo Consulting
editSeveral points are mentioned in the relevant section of Harry Ricardo which are not included in this article. Probably they should be, or if not, perhaps that section should be rewritten. (I think that the name Ricardo Consulting may have existed after Ricardo Consulting Engineers and before Ricardo plc, in which case the section should probably be called Ricardo Consulting Engineers, since that is what I think it was called towards the end of Harry Ricardo's lifetime, but since I am not completely sure, I have not altered it. Also, there would be a case for calling it Engine Patents Ltd, which was its very first name.) Enginear (talk) 05:56, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
- Since the Harry Ricardo article is about the man and this article is about the company, that entire section should be moved to here and a single sentence left behind in the other article (without a section title, probably in the intro). Stepho talk 22:46, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
New edits for 2015
editIn the light of the company's centenary this year (2015) I am in the process of up-dating, adding and correcting material. I was a contributing author in the new Ricardo Centenary Book and worked at the company for over 40 years, even knowing the founder, Harry Ricardo. I hope these credentials indicate that the additions/amendments I make will be reliable and accurate to the best of my ability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DavidPaygate (talk • contribs) 14:58, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Moscow
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
- Specific text to be added or removed: In the Introduction section, remove the words 'and Moscow'
- Reason for the change: Ricardo does not have an office in Moscow
- References supporting change: https://www.ricardo.com/en/contact-us/locations/europe
I need to acknowledge that I am a consultant supporting Ricardo in aiming to remove factual innaccuracies on the Ricardo Plc Wikipedia page. Thanks in advance for your help.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DigiAndSocial (talk • contribs)
- That sentence seems to be a direct quote from multiple places like https://www.hongfumotor.com/new-arrival-china-industrial-electric-power-30kva-diesel-generator-ricardo-series-hongfu-2-product/
- Also found Moscow in the list of locations at https://apply.ricardo.com/vacancies/
- And found it on your Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=112246968790702
- I suspect that you used to have a Moscow office but are now distancing yourself from Russia. At Wikipedia we mark such things by saying that the office was closed but not by trying to erase history.
