Robert Duff born and died in England. He was(/did)?
editI am troubled by the assertion in the intro para that Admiral Robert Duff was born and died in England. I've not been smart enough to figure out who inserted these bits. But if you're reading this, do you have a source for it, please?
This was a Scottish family. I have found no record that Robert Duff's father ever travelled to England (though I haven't looked too exhaustively). IF our man died in Queensferry, then the only Queensferry I know in the British Isles is just outside of Edinburgh. In ...um ... Scotland. There are, I know, many countries in the world where folks aren't quite sure of the difference between Britain and England and Scotland and Wales, but those are mostly countries where they don't have some variation of English as a mother tongue: and from those places wiki readers, generally, will be reading a wiki other than this anglophone one.
I do have one or two sources on this family, but I've never yet come across a reference to Robert Duff's birth location, nor to a place called Queensferry in England. But I could well be missing something that to someone else is obvious. So I didn't remove the reference to birth / death in England. Not yet.
Thanks for thinking on it. Charles01 15:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
