Some edits needed

edit

I've removed these two bits here till we get some better edits for them Wetman 09:54, 5 August 2007 (UTC):Reply

  • "French father, Italian mother". Can we get some specifics to replace these anachronisms?
  • "...a sign of his asceticism Saint Roch castrated himself and threw his testicle to the dog." This does need a source.
  • "San Rocco's Feast day is celebrated by the Potenza Lodge in Denver, Colorado the 3rd weekend in August." No doubt. We don't want to start a trivia list.

Rochuskirche

edit

Rochuskirche is a church on Landstraßer Hauptstraße in Vienna and the adjacent Rochusgasse (Rochus lane) is named after it. I assume the saint for whom this church is named is Saint Roche, but I am not sure. Here is the German Wikipedia link: [1]. This should probably be added to the list of Saint Roche churches in Europe.--DerRichter (talk) 08:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rename?

edit

Any reason why this article is named "Roche" and not the far more recognizable "Saint Roch"?--Kotniski (talk) 20:27, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

RocheSaint Roch — Saint Roch is far more recognizable than just "Roch" and still admirably brief. --Kotniski (talk) 10:19, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

St. Rollox

edit

Is Mr. St. Roche the same chap as St. Rollox? The St. Rollox railway works page says so: "St. Rollox Locomotive Works [...] was named after the nearby parish church of St. Roche." I arrived there in turn after looking up the amusingly-named St. Rollox Street in Hebburn, thinking that St. Rollox wasn't a saint I'd heard of before. If it does turn out to be St. Roch(e), that'll be disappointingly mundane compared to my own theory of Rollox, the Patron Saint of Skinheads, but perhaps Rollox should then go on the page somewhere as an "also known as". Anybody who knows about such things care to confirm? --—Vom (talk) 13:19, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

First illustration in the article

edit

I'm looking to find some more information about the first illustration in the article, at the top left of the page. It looks to me like an early woodcut that's had color added to it. Can anyone identify this image?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Littlelowyschaucer (talkcontribs) 19:28, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
