This article fails to make any distinction between real events and acted events. It would be nice if somebody could clear it up a little. 208.29.145.8 20:18, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Chest trauma...?

edit

During a local wrestling show, there was an accidental death that involved small town local Berlin Ritchie, where Yokozuna fell in the crowd thus causing instant chest trauma. Ritchie was pronounced dead at the scene.

I googled Berlin Ritchie and the only thing result was this wikipedia article. Anybody have proof? If not, I'm gonna delete it. DonMEGĂ60645Talk|Contribs 13:23, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I deleted it because I haven't heard anything about the incident and there's no proof anywhere on the net, as you said. Surely news like that would be recorded somewhere on the internet. It sounds like a form of vandalism to me.

Death

edit

I read that his death was changed from October 22 2000 to December 24 2006. I can't clarify if thats true or not. Does anybody know what his true date of death was? If so please change it. I'm not so sure if its vandalism because I myself aren't sure when he died.

This article is clearly vandalized and needs thorough cleaning. The n-word and other forms of cursing and defamatory language is being utilized. Facts are also changed and the article has lost its relevance.

The article has been returned to stub status until someone is able to come forward with reliable, non-trivial third party sources. Burntsauce 21:31, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have found an official WWE source that seems to go quite in depth about Anoa'i as a person as opposed to the character he portrayed. [1] -- 22:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Regarding this edit, no, that version was deemed to be unsourced and a violation of the WP:A and WP:V version on Wikipedia as you can clearly see a few lines above this very post I am making, so until there are sources the article must stay at the version previous to that revision. You must realize that while this person is not alive anyomnre, WP:LIVING still applies as the person's relatives are still living and could sue Wikipedia for false information being presented. This is policy, you can read more about it at WP:BLP.

Biographies of Living Persons does not apply to deceased people of 7 years, sorry. Blanking article content without removing legitamite concerns for policy violation, will be reverted. — Moe ε 18:07, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

He died on October 23, 2000: www.wildsamoan.com/yokozuna.htm, www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/profiles/y/yokozuna.php, www.gerweck.net/yokozuna.htm, bodyslamming.com/deceased/yokozuna.html

I think a far better source would be this: [2] - I would say it is pretty conclusive. That said - there are a couple of issues. He died in England, so it could have been the 22nd in North America when people heard about it first with the time difference. Anyway, that may be why there are questions... and the issues have caused a whole lot of stuff like "significant events on date" articles listing the 22 as his date of death which is going to keep sending things around in circles as people see those.--CokeBear 04:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of his death, there's not one detail about it in the article. (except the date) Can anyone add to it, please? --Schmendrick 18:09, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

An anon removed it. I've readded it. --Howard the Duck 16:04, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The section on his death is completely incorrect from a medical perspective. Fluid on the lungs does not mean he didn’t die from heart failure. Heart failure normally kills people by causing fluid on the lungs, aka pulmonary oedema. The failing heart is too weak to pump away the fluid that is reaching the lungs via the other side of the circulatory system.

Came to point this out. Barring a lung injury (of which no evidence is offered, and which no source claims he had sustained), heart failure (not "heart attack", mind) is the cause of PE. Medical illiteracy in media sources shouldn't inform what Wikipedia says in its own voice. As there is, however, no current source that says he died of heart failure, it is enough to say pulmonary edema was the cause, without attmempting to assert that "heart failure" is an incorrect diagnosis. 100.40.12.15 (talk) 14:34, 2 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

How about Yokozuna (wrestler)? RandySavageFTW (talk) 15:43, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, because then it would be a redundancy with the Yokozuna disambiguation page. ArcAngel (talk) (Review) 14:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yokozuna is a sumo wrestling term, this is why Yokozuna (wrestler) won't work. — Κaiba 21:08, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Height

edit

Yokozuna was billed as 6'4", not 6'0". Almost every source you can look up will verify this. 69.108.27.56 (talk) 05:06, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have proposed moving this article; see WT:PW. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:57, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

He wasn't billed at 589 lbs

edit

It lists his billed weight as 589 pounds. He was never billed at that weight in the WWF. He was billed at 6'4" and 505, 568, and 641 pounds. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.108.139.177 (talk) 13:04, 5 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Age at death

How can somebody be born in 1966 and die in 2000 at the age of 34? This cannot be correct Mickduly (talk) 13:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

AWA and UWF

edit

Anoa'i wasn't in AWA for seven years. He was in Universal Wrestling Federation even if briefly. He faced Ron Simmons in one match for sure. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 03:25, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

He also worked WWC in 1990-1991. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 06:04, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have heard that months before his death in 1999, he appeared at the infamous "Heroes Of Wrestling". He was rumored to be around 750-760 pounds. He stated he was purposely trying to get bigger, as his goal was to be 800-900 pounds. He died weeks after his birthday on October 22, 2000. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.143.209.120 (talk) 06:41, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

(talk) Hi there, you got the info wrong. He died 2000. His birthday was October 2 and the day he died was October 22.

Hogan defeated Yokozuna at Wrestlemania IX.

edit

It says Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan. He lost to Hogan. 135.84.220.47 (talk) 04:39, 6 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
