Talk:Roots-type supercharger
This description is at odds with what I know of as a Roots blower, which is what's described at Roots type supercharger: a lobe pump. See http://www.rootsblower.com/aboutus.cfm?call=history for backround of the Roots company. Mackerm 22:00, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Is Roots rotary pump and Roots blower are the same thing?--Turbos10 13:49, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
The page is at odds with what you know about Roots Blowers because it is wrong! http://www.rootsblower.com/DocCentral/Document/IRB-140-379%20RGS-HVB.pdf Shows some images of Root Blowers and a description of how they work direct from the original manufacturer. A liquid ring rotary pump is described here http://www.hivaceng.com/liquid_ring-pumps.html
Roots Rotary pumps sometimes refers to the Roots Blower itself but also often refers to a Rotary pump and roots Blower combination.
Roots Cleanup
editMoved the Liquid ring pump stuff to the appropriate place (there was even a link already) and edited out the Roots references. Put in some new stuff on Roots pumps with a few links, but it still needs a diagram and some new technical data on pump speeds and minimum pressures.

error and question
editI've always seen this referred to as a 'Rootes' blower. I don't know which spelling is correct, by maybe it needs a note?
And the diagram looks to have the arrows pointing the wrong direction of rotation. ie clockwise where it should be anti-clockwise, and vice-versa.

"Roots" is a legacy type of machines (Rotary Lobe). Please check out www.roots-blowers.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:F120:F7D0:C3:939B:1568:35A (talk) 17:39, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
