"Described as racist"
editDoes Wikipedia really need to describe the comments as "described" or not? Fox News, CNN, the New York Times, The Guardian, the Wall Street Journal, and her fellow cast members have all unanimously described the tweets as racist. To me, it seems like heavy sugarcoating to consider the comments as being "described as racist."
Comparing black women to apes is about as racist as you can get. DapperAond (talk) 13:34, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- Roseanne, within days, explained she thought Jarrett was white as she looked. A white woman talking about another white woman is about as NON-racist as you can get (see source: @slTrib.com). -Wikid77 (talk) 05:49, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
- Jarrett, while wantonly described as a "black woman" by some for whatever reason, is only of partial african descent and on all appearances is simply Iranian who are ostensibly caucasian. Are we to assume Barr was aware of her genetic profile before composing the tweet? 2A02:8084:4EE0:6900:B42D:B0A:AD28:4E04 (talk) 08:15, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- I have heard people of European descent likened to apes and there has been no comment to the effect that the slur was racist. To retain a NPOV then "described" would appear to be correct. Neils51 (talk) 12:52, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- (Yes, the Germans have a term of abuse for the British, Inselaffe, that translates as "island monkey".) It's a bit of a stretch to say that Jarret is "on all appearances... simply Iranian": she isn't of Iranian ancestry, she is mixed-race African-American/caucasian. The convoluted mental gymnastics of you people is often astonishing. Neil S. Walker (talk) 13:08, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

Roseanne was raised as Jewish & Mormon, from Utah. To Mormons there, white people who look white seem to be white. If this seems confusing, then think born in Salt Lake City (1% black) and reconsider. -Wikid77 (talk) 05:49, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

Regarding Barr's Tweet on Valerie Jarrett, seven hefty paragraphs are dedicated to it in the article body, not including another one in the lede. Seeing as this is the article on the TV show and not her WP:BLP (which discusses the Tweet in two succinct paragraphs) should we consider limiting the drama to something more commensurate with the amount of coverage it has received, in comparison to that of the ten-year run of the series as a whole? 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 14:20, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
