Endangered Breeds

edit

The European Dark Bee is listed in (at the top) of the table under the classification "Category I: extremely endangered" while if you look at http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/conservation/species/redlist/downloads/European_bees.pdf you will see that there is insufficient Data (signified by DD, meaning Data Deficient) for an assessment to be made. Therefore the European Dark Bee is not on the Red List and should be deleted from the Articles Table. Also it appears that the Link provided in the citation of the Source is broken, if someone knows the proper Link please add it, the fact that the Red List is German based doesn't make this wiki page easy to maintain. If anyone has any comments on this before I delete it please add them here. Thanks. Bibby (talk) 21:41, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is123Biblio, that section starts off "In 2014 the breeds listed were: ...". The bee was in category I, "extrem gefährdet", on the list in 2014, as you can see by looking at the archived version of the relevant page (it's the very last entry, "Dunkle Bienen"). It's still on the list today (about halfway down, immediately above the broad red bar), and still has the same conservation status. Obviously, since the GeH is a German institution, that status applies to Germany, not to the whole of the EU. Just a thought: it's probably not a great idea to be even thinking of deleting stuff that you don't fully understand. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:00, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks for that clarification, from the Link you have provided I can see that it is still on the List as of Jan. 2018, however if you still go to reference 2 in the article you will see that they are not the correct links. Hence the reason I tried using GoogleTranslate to look at the site and came across the one I stated, which was wrong as you've pointed out, thanks for that. Is there a reason you haven't corrected the Links for Ref. 2? Just a thought: this is what the Talk section is for ;-) Bibby (talk) 09:02, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, Is123Biblio, this is exactly what the talk-page is for – discussing improvements to, or problems with, the article. Which of the two links in that reference are you trying to use – the original, or the archived version? I didn't fix it because a bot did it; however, I'll now edit it slightly to remove the defunct link. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:31, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi, maybe your computer is able to access archived version but mine cannot, are you still able to access it ok? As for original thought it was obvious if you clicked on it that this one is not Ok. Bibby (talk) 11:11, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Update: I see that the link in the Ref. section is now just [1] which I can't access, it's not my Internet Connection, can you access it Ok? Bibby (talk) 11:13, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  1. ^ Die Rote Liste der gefährdeten Nutztierrassen der GEH (in German). Gesellschaft zur Erhaltung alter und gefährdeter Haustierrassen. Accessed January 2017.
Both those links work fine for me; however, I have to use a browser other than Safari to access any archived page on archive.org. Try a different browser? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:35, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
mmm, that's strange, I've tested it on another computer, same Browser, it works on one but not the other, problems obviously at my end! Thanks, appreciate the reply :-) Bibby (talk) 12:28, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Update: Just noticed the "Website" listed in the top right box, does not work properly, can we (you) fix that as well? Bibby (talk) 12:30, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Done. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:33, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
