Removed Vandalism
editRecently, "Rio de Janeiro-Galeao" was added as a destination to overseas airlines on this airport article. I have removed this since foreign has no rights to carry passengers to a destination within the same country. Please be on the lookout for this in future airport articles. Thanks! The following sentence does not use correct English:
Airport planning foresees building more 2 terminals (TPS3 and TPS4) and third runway additionally two are built, reaching the max expansion capacity to process flights, passengers and cargo. ````Matthew Norquist seattle747@mac.com
JJ services to JNB
editJJ announced plans to start a service to JNB for the FIFA cup in 2010 but no further details were given. Unnofficially however, it was announced that they would code-share with SA, on flights operated by SA to JNB. This makes sense since JJ is on its way to join Star Alliance. So, though a possibility, services with JJ's own metal are still a matter of conjecture. (Brunoptsem (talk) 03:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC))
- Since it is speculative and unconfirmed. It should not be listed and "2010" is not a date. 74.183.173.237 (talk) 04:01, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree, I was correcting information inserted in both GIG and GRU pages by Dlrsbrazil (Brunoptsem (talk) 13:49, 31 August 2009 (UTC))

About the use of the name Varig
editVRG Linhas Aéreas, the operator of the brand Gol Airlines, purchased some years ago the brand Varig (only the brand and some rights, not the assets) giving rise to the common mistake of mixing the so-called "old" Varig with "new" Varig. The original Varig ("old" Varig) is presently known as Flex Linhas Aéreas and only operates flights on behalf of other airlines, particularly Gol Airlines, under G3 flight numbers. The present Varig ("new" Varig) refers to a completely new airline started in 2005. In 2008, "New" Varig and Gol Airlines were merged under the name of VRG Linhas Aéreas but the brands Gol and Varig were kept separate. Although both use the IATA code G3, Gol has all economy class aircraft whereas the "new" Varig operates Boeings 737-700 with business and economy classes, on longer-haul and to holiday destination flights. To put in short, presently the planes with the name Varig refer to the "new" Varig and not to the "old" Varig. (Brunoptsem (talk) 23:24, 4 March 2010 (UTC))
Source of the stats?
editThe cargo stats clearly don't match the ones found in the references' links, http://www.infraero.com.br/index.php/br/estatistica-dos-aeroportos.html Where did the stats shown in here come from? --147.83.182.44 (talk) 07:35, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed! Corrected numbers starting 2003 as per Infraero statistics. (Brunoptsem (talk) 10:43, 24 November 2011 (UTC))
LAN Peru to SFO not genuine direct
editLAN Peru flies between GRU and LIM every single day with a 763. On days there is a SFO connection, it uses a flight number that continues to SFO. On the other days, the flight number is different but the schedule is exactly the same. Based on long-time practices of WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT, which exclude continuation flights through a domestic hub (unless there is something unusual, like what Air Canada does), the LIM-SFO is not a genuine direct from GRU. Map showing direct/nonstop flights is incorrect/misleading
editThe map displaying routes from GRU to other airport is incorrect in some situations. For example, there is no nonstop routes from GRU to SIN, PEK or ICN as the map shows. Those are direct routes, but no "nonstop". They do have stops on BCN, MAD and LAX respectively. I have just replaced the word "nonstop" for "direct" to be a little more acurate.
I suggest the map to be taken down or corrected. Maybe a map marking only the destinations from GRU would be better and cleaner than one that attempts to draw the route incorrectly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 191.255.13.215 (talk) 06:19, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
-- I agree and will thereby add a note stating "The routes to SIN, PEK and ICN have stops at BCN, MAD and LAX respectively". I do, however, recommend that the original creator of the map changes it and adds the stops. Mati360 (talk) 00:19, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
