SGR 0525−66SGR 0526−66 – There is not a soft gamma repeater named SGR 0525-66.The first SGR that was discovered was the SGR 0526-56 and if you look at the Right ascension witch the SGR is named after you see that the coordinates are 5 hours and 26 minutes and not 25 minutes. Support as an unambiguous typographical error. There should be no redirect left behind after the move. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 18:24, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Comment: Both designations (SGR 0525-66 and SGR 0526-66) appear in SIMBAD, so the current title is not a typo. However, the suggested title does seem to be more common based on a look at the references in SIMBAD, and it matches the object's J2000 coordinates. Apparently the RA is different in ICRS and in FK4. Since both titles are in use, Support for moving with a redirect behind. Chaotic Enby (talk) 13:20, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dating/distance discrepancies

edit

Something doesn't add up here. The article claims that the "direction of the source corresponded with the remnants of a star that had gone supernova around 3000 B.C.E.". The infobox on the other hand clearly states that SGR 0526−66 is located 165,000 light-years away from Earth. But that would seem to mean that the supernova in question wouldn't even have been detectable for another 162,000 years! One of those numbers has got to be wrong.
