Queen Seamew?
editThe SO3-1K was to have been taken into service as the Queen Seamew but an order of 30 was cancelled.
Presumably this is referring to possible UK use as a radio-controlled target drone? - these aircraft all had the prefix Queen, e.g., Queen Bee (a modified Tiger Moth), Queen Wasp, etc. Ian Dunster 12:01, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- That's correct. According to David Mondey's American Aircraft of World War II these 30 aircraft did see British service, being "used to supplement the fleet of de Havilland Queen Bee target aircraft". Drutt (talk) 04:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- OK - thanks for the reply. Some would have said that that was the best use for them.
Survivors?
editHave any been preserved or put in museums or are they all scrapped?2600:1700:6841:4980:99B1:6C39:DBE6:3FE6 (talk) 17:12, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
