- I looked through the titles of 861 articles on Azerbaijani football players and none of them uses a schwa. Likewise, there is no use of the schwa at all at List of Azerbaijanis. Is there some guidance for using "ə" in article titles (as opposed to WP:DIACRITICS, which is a different issue)? The proposed title does not seem to be very user-friendly for English-language readers. There seem to be other sites that use the current spelling, although I am not sure if they are better or worse than those given above, e.g. Eurosport. Dekimasuよ! 05:16, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- BTW in Azeri, the ə is absolutely not a schwa. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 05:30, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, while I am sure the pronunciation is different from the English pronunciation of the schwa character, it is still called a schwa at Azerbaijani alphabet#Schwa (Ə). If it is not a schwa (which at least could be identified by many English speakers), then that makes me even less certain about using it in titles on the English Wikipedia. - Redirects make the usability problem moot anyhow. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 17:26, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
