As this does not fit the usual profile of serial killers, it should be included--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 02:16, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Actually, he does. The myth of black serial killers being a tiny minority is proven to be just that - a myth. The following is lifted from the Wikipedia article Serial Killer and lifted from the sub-section Ethnicity and demographics in the United States:
''(...)according to the FBI, based on percentages of the U.S. population, whites are not more likely than other races to be serial killers.[16] Criminal profiler Pat Brown says serial killers are usually reported as white because serial killers usually target victims of their own race, and argues the media typically focuses on "All-American" white and pretty female victims who were the targets of white male offenders; that crimes among minority offenders in urban communities, where crime rates are higher, are under-investigated; and that minority serial killers likely exist at the same ratios as white serial killers for the population. She believes that the myth that serial killers are always white might have become "truth" in some research fields due to the over-reporting of white serial killers in the media.[91]
According to some sources, the percentage of serial killers who are African American is estimated to be between 13% and 22%.[92][93] Another study has shown that 16% of serial killers are African American, what author Maurice Godwin describes as a "sizeable portion".[94] A 2014 Radford/FGCU Serial Killer Database annual statistics report indicated that for the decades 1900–2010, the percentage of white serial killers was 52.1% while the percentage of African American serial killers was 40.3%.[60] In a 2005 article Anthony Walsh, professor of criminal justice at Boise State University, argued a review of post-WWII serial killings in America finds that the prevalence of minority serial killers has typically been drastically underestimated in both professional research literature and the mass media. As a paradigmatic case of this media double-standard, Walsh cites news reporting on white killer Gary Heidnik and African-American killer Harrison Graham. Both men were residents of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; both imprisoned, tortured, and killed several women; and both were arrested only months apart in 1987. "Heidnik received widespread national attention, became the subject of books and television shows, and served as a model for the fictitious Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs", writes Walsh, while "Graham received virtually no media attention outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, despite having been convicted of four more murders than Heidnik".[95] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_killer#Ethnicity_and_demographics_in_the_United_States
And, from African Americans and Serial Killing in the Media The Myth and the Reality
Two of the stereotypes surrounding serial killers are that they are almost always White males and that African American males are barely represented in their ranks. In a sample of 413 serial killers operating in the United States from 1945 to mid-2004, it was found that 90 were African American. Relative to the African American proportion of the population across that time period, African Americans were overrepresented in the ranks of serial killers by a factor of about 2. Possible reasons why so few African American serial killers are known to the public are explored. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1088767905280080

- While Okama-San is right, it should still be mentioned, as it's more information on the guy. Alex of Canada (talk) 18:57, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Did he live with his paternal grandma, or his maternal grandma?
editThis might sound like a strange question, why would it matter? But the reason I ask is because my language (Swedish), have words for paternal grandma (farmor) or maternal grandma (mormor), but no word for both, so I'm a little bit lost in translation here. So if anybody knows, and have a source that states which grandma he lived with growing up, it would be great! / Elliotea (talk) 13:57, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
- According to the YouTube channel The Casual Criminalist (writer David Baker, narrator Simon Whistler) episode on Little that was posted a couple of days ago, Little lived with his paternal grandparents. As for the source, you'd have to query the writer. But David is very thorough; the video is LONG. History Lunatic (talk) 06:58, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
Additional Source
editHere's another recent one that suggests he may be connected to 90 cases now. Not sure if it needs to go in the article yet (seems covered by the other recent stuff about the Texas case), but leaving here in case it's useful to someone: https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/serial-killer-s-violent-streak-first-caught-the-attention-of/article_a42f5d58-157e-58a1-a3bc-6ec699ba4d32.html#tracking-source=home-the-latest umrguy42 14:52, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- He says he killed 90+ ... the issue is, is he being truthful or is he exaggerating for his own bemusement? There was another article mentioning this: https://wpde.com/news/local/the-family-of-1978-slain-woman-says-family-not-the-same 50.111.51.207 (talk) 02:52, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Call for article check
editI would ask regular editors of this article to have a systematic look at the sourcing of the article, comparing content to sources. After a couple of spot-checks of that sort, it appears to this experienced author that material appearing was not always drawn directly from the indicated source. That is to say, it appears that the content was placed, and the source added later as being a partial source of its statements, or, otherwise that the original editor took significant liberties in restating cited content, so much so that the facts presented are not fully supported by the source. While editor "Blaylockjam10" is correcting some of what I observed (on the same day of this entry's timestamp), the article will still need systematic attention for any teacher to have confidence that all material appearing is reliable. (Such is the problem with even a little unsourced content making it in; it spoils the trustiworthiness of the whole, because it is impossible to know the extent of the issue without doing significant work.) Thank you in advance for your continuing efforts. I will look for some message to place at the top of the article to call attention to the fact that not all statements appearing are verifiable. 2601:246:C700:2DB2:9C90:D6E2:6F44:E4AB (talk) 19:48, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- What I noticed when editing the "Later confessions" section was that sometimes the material was in a source other than the indicated source. Thus I moved or added some sources as needed. If you're seeing a problem in other sections, this might be what's going on. Blaylockjam10 (talk) 20:32, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- Perhaps we should begin a completed parageaphs section, see next section following.2601:246:C700:2DB2:9C90:D6E2:6F44:E4AB (talk) 20:48, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- Possibly, but even this can only be discovered by opening each appearing source, and carefully discerning what is and is not sourced by it—changing what is necessary to make it accurate, and adding [citation needed] or a new source where the material may indeed be correct, even though unsupported by the appearing source. See this [diff] to make clear what a before and after looks like for even one paragrah. The "supported himself on the streets" sentence could not in any way be based on the source appearing, two occupations were also missing, and nuance regarding the reality that some of these facts were matters self-reported once by Little to interviewers, long after the fact—all this makes clear from overt to nuanced, the material now appearing is not reliable to source, or thoroughly accurate to the history of the title subject and related matters. Given that WP is now the first result appearing for most American/Western web searches, it is important to clearly state the fact that we know there is reason to suspect this level of possible inaccuracy. Cheers, and again, as I said at your talk page, thank you for your efforts. 2601:246:C700:2DB2:9C90:D6E2:6F44:E4AB (talk) 20:44, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- Personally, I just removed material that I couldn't find in any source, but adding a cn tag is also fine. Blaylockjam10 (talk) 21:07, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
Citation check progress
edit- Section, "Early Life," paragraph beginning "Little moved to Florida to live with his mother..." — checked / DONE (except for [citation needed]s). 2601:246:C700:2DB2:9C90:D6E2:6F44:E4AB (talk) 20:48, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
Modus Operandi?
editThe article provides no information about Little's Modus Operandi (MO). All of his victims are women. Do the victims fit into a particular profile? (The list mentions both Black and White victims - and various ages.) Where did Little find his victims? How was he able to capture his victims? Did he use a weapon? Did he rape the women before (or after) killing them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LeszX (talk • contribs) 22:30, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- He strangled his victims. Apparently he targeted women that he thought wouldn't be missed by anyone & who had a certain type of neck. 2601:204:D400:7310:D5D4:F304:F845:ADBF (talk) 00:02, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
I have to agree with LeszX: there's no info on where, why, or how Little chose his victims. Considering he's "the most prolific serial killer in America," there's scant detail about his actions. It just seems so thin compared to much less "prolific" killers. Did he just say, "Yes" when shown pictures of victims? I would think he'd be a bit more talkative than that! Nancy Carol Stevens
editThe text of the article mentions Nancy Carol Stevens; however, she is not listed in his confirmed or suspected murders. Is the murder of Stevens no longer suspected? If so, the timeframe he committed his crimes should not say 1970-2005. If so, shouldn't she be in the list? Ryan Vesey 02:09, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

New infobox picture?
editI was just wondering if we could get a new infobox picture of Little. The current one is too small and has too many pictures inside of it. We really only need one in the infobox, not 10 of them. Fakescientist8000 (talk) 16:47, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Photos of the victims?
editI have been working on the 'unmatched confessions' section I created to organize his unmatched confessions that he provided sketches for, except I am having trouble inserting the images themselves. I have settled for inserting an image address, but it would be more helpful for the sketch to appear alongside the summary. Can anyone help me insert/embed the image links? They are from the FBI article on Samuel Little so the images are in the public domain and available under free use. Thank you!

Does Kermit Gosney not technically surpass him?
editGosney had something like 45 fetal corpses in his basement and staff admitting to up to 100 spinal cuts post birth. Was he not the most prolific American serial killer? 2603:6011:4840:D0:6536:D0FB:2A8C:8B50 (talk) 04:13, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
