The french name is not needed, this river is not in an area with a prominent French as a first language population and those who do speak French as a first language are virtualy always fluent in English.

Also this is the English Language version of Wikipedia. (this edit added by) GoClick~enwiki (talk) 22:48, 26 September 2006

The river is in an area in which French fur traders from New France, and later the North West Company, were prominent. The French speaking Métis expanded into this area with the fur trade, remaining after the fur trade had diminished. That said, the French would have simply referred to the river as the Saskatchewan, not the Rivière Saskatchewan, so your edit in 2006 is not patently incorrect.
