I removed the "2008" section, because everything stated there was either old rumors, or once stated plans, all of which have changed, resulting the the entire "2008" section being false.

Th 2008 section is false, the Spring Hill,TN plant is NOT closing in 2008!!!

I would like the Ion Redline page restored and linked to this one - the Ion Redline page had way more information on the Redline package than the existing Saturn Ion page. It seems that whomever combined the pages lost all of the pertinent info on the page regarding Stage Kits and Production Numbers of the Redline models - if someone knew a way to reverse this redirect and keep the pages separate, it would be helpful. 142.59.238.144 05:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)IanReply

The Red Line article was mostly just production and part numbers, which in itself is unencyclopedic. Check WP:NOT#IINFO. Please save that kind of info for external websites. Check Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution for how such an article could be properly done - although I doubt you'll get that much notable info out of the ION. --Vossanova o< 13:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I disagree - why it obviously may not mean it requires its own section, the Redline information that was included on that site was not even carried over to the Saturn Ion section. I checked your link to "What Wikipedia is not" and I don't see how Production numbers of the Redline and Engine/Part specifications are in the least bit any different than listing the production numbers of the Porsche 959 and the specifications of the most recent Lancer Evolution X engine. I don't mind that the sections were combined at all but it seems to be a disservice to have that information removed because you "doubt you'll get that much notable info out of the ION". The information we had posted in the Redline article was specific and accurate and elaborated no more than other car pages - at the very least it could have been organized into a sales chart, rather than removed entirely. Just my opinion. 142.59.238.144 05:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC) IanReply

Is there any way that we can get a copy/screenshot of the page prior to the merge so we can edit the main Ion article accordingly? 6 October 2009 Darkvette —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkvette (talkcontribs) 17:10, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Per the neutrality concerns of the Red Line section, I reviewed the section and removed all non-neutral comments that I saw. Darkvette (talk) 16:32, 23 December 2009 (UTC)DKVReply

The 2005-2006 section is wrong. I drive a 05 Saturn and it does NOT have the new GM Standard Radio with MP3 Plugin. It also DOES have the new wheels designs, which the article states were for 2006 and on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.185.125.80 (talk) 17:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

There should be a section added referencing the unanimously horrible reviews the car received upon it's introduction in 2003. It was widely regarded as being the worst new car available in the US market by the automotive press. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.137.244.214 (talk) 01:14, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

2005 Ion Incorrect

edit

(as previously stated)

My girlfriend drives a 2006 Ion. As for the front grill, the door panels (groove parallel to ground), and the MP3 player, the article appears to be correct. For the sake of providing info, the tailights are more cornered & distinctive than earlier models. They don't wrap around to the side (see next paragraph), so they appear taller than previous models.

By sheer random chance, I ended up with a 2005 last year (my gf could affirmed their reliability). It has the front grill (no grill at all, really) & door panels (groove angled at ground near front wheels) attributed to earlier years. The taillights are more rounded, conventional taillights which wrap around slightly to the side of the body with a triangular shape. It also does NOT have an MP3 player. I'm not sure on the wheel design differences, so I can't speak to that. This article is simply incorrect on the 2005.

The images are also incorrect. The one captioned 2005-2007 ended in 2005 (that's my model). The one captioned 2005 didn't start until 2006 (that's my gf's model). No account, but I like to go by ForceMaster.. 75.185.73.197 (talk) 23:44, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Motor Trend Car of the Year

edit

The article says the ion won motor trend car of the year in the 2003 to 2004 section. The wikipedia site for car of the year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_Trend_Car_of_the_Year Does NOT list the ion as a winner in any year. The motor trend website does not list the ion as a winner in any year. JB — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.147.215.74 (talk) 03:59, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
