Terminology
editThe term sounds strange and doesn't seem to occur outside Wikipedia. Aren't Scots an ethnic group? Asians can't become Scots, even if they wanted to. Parhaps a better term would be "Asians in Scotland" or "Scottish Asians."--Kohelet (talk) 22:34, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
Scots can be both an ethnic group and a nationality (ie a collective of peoples) The notion of "Scots" has been evolving and included the (oldest known) Picts, Gaels (from Ireland), Britons, English, Norse, Normans etc. These tribes (albeit white) were originally different ethnic groups who came together, weaving distinct cultures and languages into the mix which is known as Scots today. Ongoing immigration from Ireland and England continues to mould Scotland alongside immigration from Asia and Africa. Scots do not exist as a racial group, though aspects of different backgrounds, can be traced within DNA ie pictish. By ethnicity we consider cultural heritage, though even that can be disputed and is not homogenous for example; religion or gaelic language versus english. Asians do become Scots. That is a fact. It does not negate racism which does exist within Scotland. In 1923, the Church of Scotland considered a report "The Menace of the Irish Race to our Scottish Nationality". Today, only an extremely small minority would consider that people of Irish Ancestry were not Scottish. Tendered (talk) 00:24, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Scottish Asian → Scottish Asians – I confused: is this article about the ethnic group, or about the term? If it is about the ethnic group, then per WP:PLURAL it should be 'Scottish Asians'. Skovl (talk) 23:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
