editI discovered the page was a stub. I spent sometime to update it with proper sources and info in line with WP:BLP demands. BraEpreSS (talk) 08:25, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Re: Wrong, Negative and Unverified info added by and SPA, User:Solomaidon
editHello User:Celestina007 and other editors!
On 20th October 2021, a WP:SPA by name "User:Solomaidon" added this unverified and negative content: He stated :
Key figures within the #EndSars movement have accused Awosanya of placing the peaceful protestors in harms way when he used his platform to call them insurrectionists.[7] Many of those that had previously been affiliated with him decided to distance themselves due to the betrayal which saw many young people killed in the Lekki massacre and the promises of the government reneged upon.
I searched the news across Google, there are no credible WP:RS that supports the claims. The only source cited is from "Sahara Reporters" which is not secure and unreliable. Here's the link
According to the source above, one Nigerian lawyer and human rights advocate, Abdul Mahmud, made a claim. He stated this
I Refuse To Be Drawn Into The Commercial Activism, Says Activist Who Stepped Down From Segalink's Advocacy Group He said he was, however, shocked when Segalink called peaceful protesters insurrectionists.
But "User:Solomaidon" amplified the singular claim by claiming that "Key figures within the #EndSars movement have accused Awosanya of placing the peaceful protestors in harms way when he used his platform to call them insurrectionists"
I removed the content because of the following reasons
- 1. It was added by a WP:SPA. The user only has that as his edit. It could be a case of vandalism or he may have been paid by enemies of Segalink to add such.
- 2. There are no credible WP:RS source that backup the claim. No single Nigerian, African or International news-source has such a content. Sahara Reporters is never a reliable source as can be seen on the site URL. It's often a paid platform.
- 3. The content is false. It was a claim by a single person "Abdul Mahmud" which is yet to be verified by any other source.
- 4. The content added is against the dictates of WP:BLP
In all, if there are credible WP:RS that back up the content, I would gladly allow it to be on the page. I stand to be corrected please. So, I am removing it once again.
Perhaps, the content can be revised to suit the only source cited if the source is judged credible.
Also, Segalink is never a lawyer since there are no sources backing that. I removed "Lawyer" from the infobox. Sources reveal he's only a realtor, Human Rights activist, and Business & Strategic Consultant.
User:Celestina007, I hope you've understood why I made the edit. I am removing it once again.
