Incomplete
editHi, this article is incomplete. There are at least three sections that need content and I am unable to flesh these out until I do some more research. I will be doing this over the summer and plan to flesh the rest of the article out afterward. I have ordered some sources and I need to read them first. I welcome help others in making this a worthwhile article. Thanks, NancyHeise talk 16:51, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Tone?
editI'm concerned that this reads like it's a tract *from* the church, rather than a scholarly look at the subject. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 04:42, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Overlap
editThis article appears to contradict the article Catholic Church and women. |
There is some overlap on coverage of gender issues between the two articles. Perhaps it would be better to split sex (the act thereof) and gender/women issues? Another alternative would be to combine the articles. -- Beland (talk) 17:34, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Sex, gender and the Roman Catholic Church → Sex and gender roles in the Catholic Church – To match the lead and to be more WP:CONCISE. Deus vult! Crusadestudent (talk) 07:24, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Our main article on Catholicism is at Catholic Church, so this rename allows for consistency. Gulangyu (talk) 06:10, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Support.Title is more consistent with content and avoids the ambibuity inherent in the word 'sex'. Pincrete (talk) 15:59, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Sex and gender roles in the Catholic Church → Catholic Church and gender – WP:CONCISE. Compare Gender and religion - "gender" seems to suffice as an allcompassing term, comprising "Sex and gender" topics. For the rest, WP:CONSISTENCY per formula of all other equivalent Catholic Church + subject article name formula: Catholic Church and evolution, Catholic Church and politics, etc. Chicbyaccident (talk) 07:41, 30 August 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. - Oppose; seems to be a bit of a miscoping. Red Slash 03:26, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- This is the worst I have even considered. The current title and the proposed have no ngram results including minor variations, shortened to the allowed five words. So it is a long descriptive neologism. The current has exactly one ghit outside wikipedia, and it goes to an essay writing service.
- "Catholic Church and gender" -wikipedia at least has ghits. To look at two: 1; 2.
- (1) "As a scholar specializing in both the history of the Catholic Church and gender studies". "Catholic Church and gender" "Gender and the Catholic Church" or even "Gender roles in the Catholic Church" seem natural.
- (2) not much help.
- I think this article fails WP:SYNTH. It is a Wikipedian's essay. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 06:01, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
