Uses
editIt seems that shipping containers can also be used for building shelters/structures (it does requires allot of insulation though). In NGC's Planet Mechanics episode Heavy Metal House this was allready done. Perhaps that this building structure may also be mentioned. It seems to me that large structures such as this could easily be built with shipping containers
Cardboard boxes?
editWho uses "shipping container" to mean cardboard boxes (or "packaging in general")? I've only ever heard it used to mean the big metal containers used for transporting stuff on container ships. Which - as far as I can tell - is what all the references in this artical are referring to as well (not to mention the most obvious "plain English" meaning of the phrase.
