No hyphen for James or Simon; but Rory uses one because CJ is not his birth surname.
editNeither James Cellan Jones nor his legitimate son Simon have a hyphen in their names. Rory is the illegitimate son of James. Because Rory is not a full member of the family, he uses a hyphen in his acquired (not birth) surname. This is all covered in James's memoir, Forsyte and Hindsight: Screen Directing for Pleasure and Profit. Softlavender (talk) 07:40, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- This implies that Rory changed his surname or added the hyphen at some point, which is simply not true. On the contrary, his birth was registered in Hammersmith as Nicholas R Cellan-Jones. Nick Cooper (talk) 09:38, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Ah yes, you are correct; none of this came out until James's obituary and then Rory's memoir. Sylvia Rich changed her surname via deed poll the day before Rory was born; although she still personally went by Sylvia Rich, it allowed her to give Rory his paternal grandparents' surname. Skeleton infobox removal
editAs per Wikipedia's Manual of Style re infoboxes: "The most important group to consider are the casual readers of Wikipedia, who will never do any significant editing. Infobox templates that contain many blank fields, question marks and unknowns present an unprofessional appearance, diminishing Wikipedia's reputation as a high-quality encyclopedia."
