Move gin sling section to John Collins article?
editI added a reference regarding the history of the gin-sling linking it to the John Collins. Seeing as the recipe description included in that source is closer to that of the John/Tom Collins, I wonder what this section is doing under the Singapore Sling article? I don't really know a ton about mixology, but it seems reasonable to me to move this section to that page. The Singapore Sling seems to me just another type of sling, which is linked to in that section, rather than a specific associate of the gin-sling. If nobody objects, I will do so shortly. Recipe to Wikibooks
editJust in case this is watched by anyone. The recipe doesn't belong here, but rather on Wikibooks (there is a policy about not listing recipes somewhere). There is a b:Bartending book there in case anyone wants to move it there and add a link with Template:Wikibooks. I'm not going to be bold because I'm busy deprecating the old template which was used to link to a Wikibook page which has now disappeared. --Swift 18:29, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- The reference is WP:NOT#IINFO. It appears that the general consensus that an illustrative recipe can certainly be included in a fully developed article, especially if there are historical and cultural references to it. This article does that to some degree. The article should be expanded so that there is no confusion. --Willscrlt 02:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
IBA photo
editInteresting that IBA specifies served "up" in a hurricane glass, but their photo shows it on the rocks in a highball glass. GA-RT-22 (talk) 23:45, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of cocktails which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 16:45, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
Ingredient list
editHaving returned from Wikimania Singapore last week, where visiting the Long Bar and having one of these was one of the last things I did, I am holding in my hand (well, it's sitting on my desk as I type; close enough) a card the bar hands out explaining the history of the Sling and giving a list of ingredients.
It is the same as the one given in the infobox, except with dry Curaçao instead of Cointreau. I would consider this significant given the source ... has anyone else reading or working on this article ever heard of this substitution? Daniel Case (talk) 21:59, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
