Short

edit

There was a feature and there was a short that inspired it - in one, he says "some folks call it a kaiser blade but I call it a sling blade" and in the other the line is reversed: "some folks call it a sling blade but I call it a kaiser blade."

Irony?

edit

My edit was an adjustment of the last paragraph of plot segment. In asking Doyle how to reach the police, his intent was clear, and therefore could not be ironic; he asked because he planned to (and did) call the police after killing him. Semantics yeah, but I just watched it and this is my first edit.Mvnkie (talk) 06:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Given the care that obviously went into every aspect of this film, I would never go further than to say that Karl's utterances reach a degree of (purposeful) unintended irony, since his degree of impairment would preclude intentional irony. There are a number of places where he says things that seem ironic, even to the point that Vaughan is temporarily misled into believing that Karl has "deep thoughts". Karl's rejection of the sociopath on his return to the hospital traces the limit of his ability to reason, but does show growth in his ability to function as an autonomous individual, reinforcing the purposefulness of his crime.

Wiki Film Descriptions

edit

I have discovered that Wikipedia exceeded IMDB for providing expanded details of movies. Well done, all Wiki contributers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.28.176 (talk) 13:43, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Though named as such, this is actually a trivia section containing unsourced original research. I've removed it per WP:TRIVIA, WP:NOR and WP:V. Stetsonharry (talk) 19:44, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to read it and looked up the delete[1] I thought there might be some details that could possibly be included in the Production section but it is just a list of other films or shows that reference Sling Blade, and several instances where Thornton performed as the character of Childers for laughs. -- 109.79.181.29 (talk) 23:57, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Does this film have anything to do with Swingers?

edit

Swing Blade does. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.245.226 (talk) 03:37, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
