Article title
editAs I mentioned in the edit summary, their name is "Soi Dog Foundation". Look at their contact address. Their website title. Any mention of them in news sources. "Soi Dog" is just the shortened name featured in their logo. Those arguing otherwise should provide evidence to back up their claims and establish consensus before further restoring their changes. I've submitted a request to revert the undiscussed move. --Paul_012 (talk) 05:03, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Paul_012, according to their website, the name is Soi Dog. Sure, in the contact section, the word "foundation" is capitalized, but it isn't clear that this is part of their name, since it isn't included elsewhere—it could just be a typo. As for news sources, again, not strong evidence that "Foundation" is part of their name. If you can provide registration information that shows the full name, then this conversation has better footing, but as far as I can tell, the website repeatedly refers to them as "Soi Dog". - Their About Us page begins, "Soi Dog Foundation (Soi Dog) was established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand..." Yes, they use the shortened name "Soi Dog" when talking about their activities, but they refer to the full name, capitalised, when discussing the organization's formal status. "Soi Dog Foundation is fighting the Asian dog meat trade..." "Soi Dog Foundation is a not-for-profit, legally registered charitable organisation..." "Soi Dog Foundation has a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar..." I believe that's as good evidence as any to show that "Soi Dog Foundation" is their full name (though I don't believe the English name would be in the official registration documents, only the Thai).
- Now of course, one could argue that the shortened form is the WP:COMMONNAME (but please show evidence for that), but even so the argument should be to move the article to Soi Dog, not to decapitalise the F. --Paul_012 (talk) 05:37, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- My mistake, sorry. I encountered "Soi Dog foundation" on another page and was going to create it as a redirect, until I saw the org's logo and URL, which led me to assume it should be decapitalized. After viewing the official site I agree it should remain capitalized, but wasn't sure how to revert my move. Exobiotic 💬 ✒️ 14:42, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
