editThank you for seeking to improve the article. The reference you give - http://www.honkytonks.org/showpages/countryblues.htm - is interesting and I hadn't seen it before. However, please remain civil, particularly in your edit summaries. You claim that my previous edits "spread lies" by claiming that all songsters were African Americans. Clearly they were not, and I have never suggested they were. The article (before your changes) stated that the term "is most often used to denote an African American wandering musician". That is the case, and your reference says nothing to contradict that. Indeed, in the reference you give, every single one of the musicians mentioned was African American. I know that there were travelling white musicians in the south, such as Jimmie Rodgers, who can be termed "songsters". But all the evidence I have seen or had brought to my attention so far suggests that they were in the minority, and the term is most often used (not always, but most often) to describe African American musicians. If you have evidence which contradicts that view, which I haven't seen so far, please use it to improve the article - but do not falsely accuse other editors of "lies". Assume good faith. - PS I have now made further edits to bridge the gap between our two sets of views. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:16, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
