editSpike Island (Cheshire) → Spike Island, Cheshire – The guideline WP:UKPLACE prefers comma-separated disambiguation over parenthetical disambiguation. This is consistent with WP:NCDAB. Dinglebat500 (talk page) (talk) 17:41, 13 June 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. —Guanaco 04:46, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. The comma guideline is for settlements but islands of England typically use parentheticals. This is also consistent with WP:PLACEDAB ("With natural features, the tag normally appears in parentheses."). — AjaxSmack 13:20, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
- "Specific pre-existing national conventions may take precedence though." -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:30, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support. The comma form is commonly used for all geographical features in the UK, both natural and manmade. I see no reason why islands should be an exception. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:33, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Relisting. There is disagreement here, and this could use input from more editors. —Guanaco 04:46, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

- The WP:UKPLACE guideline refers to settlements; Spike Island is not a settlement. — AjaxSmack 00:55, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose per AjaxSmack. The parenthetical form is more readable and more consistent with other articles, given that this is an island and not a locality. THanks — Amakuru (talk) 10:41, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

– Per WP:COMMADIS we usually use brackets for "it is" a such as Mercury (planet) being a planet and commas for its in such as Bray, Berkshire being in Berkshire. Apart from organizations (which often aren't physical geographical entities) commas are standard in the UK per WP:UKPLACE which specifically states this for Scotland (such as Jura, Scotland) but doesn't specifically for England but its reasonable to assume its the case here to since there's no reason to treat landforms differently to settlements and buildings. Deadman's Island (Kent) should be moved to Deadmans Island (or Deadmans Island, Kent) since that's what its called on the OS but since there are others it might make sense to still disambiguate it. Sheep Island (England) should be disambigauted by county not country per WP:UKPLACE. See Talk:Isle of Lewis#Requested move 18 July 2018, Talk:Handa, Scotland#Requested move 16 September 2018 and Talk:Noss#Requested move 23 December 2018 where it was argued comma disambiguation should be used even when the OS uses a different name and that different name was available. Some of these were moved without discussion in 2015, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland/Archive 12#More cleanup required[1]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:28, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- But per WP:PLACEDAB, "With natural features, the tag normally appears in parentheses, as in Eagle River (Colorado). Specific pre-existing national conventions may take precedence though." As you already note, WP:UKPLACE is rather non-specific in this regard besides the Jura, Scotland example. Should this RM go in favour of your nom, is it the intention to extend this to other British landforms such as rivers, hills, etc? PC78 (talk) 20:00, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- More often than not Category:Mountains and hills of England by county and Category:Rivers of England by county (similar to Category:Islands of England by county) already use commas not brackets and WP:NCRIVER uses River Wye, Derbyshire as an example of a British river requiring disambiguation. Yes the intention is that all types of places should use commas as is mostly already done (AFAIK). Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:06, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PLACEDAB ("With natural features, the tag normally appears in parentheses."), WP:AINT and WP:TITLECHANGES (" If an article title has been stable for a long time, and there is no good reason to change it, it should not be changed."). — AjaxSmack 20:52, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - the current formulation is perfectly acceptable, if not preferred, per WP:PLACEDAB. And even if the decision was equally balanced to either option (which I don't think it is) then the default position should be leaving it as it is, per WP:TITLECHANGES. - Oppose. These are not places, but geographic features. As such they are not subject to WP:PLACEDAB, and we default to the standard parenthetical form of disambiguation. — Amakuru (talk) 14:18, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose I believe it's acceptable so no need to move it. Barca (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
