State highways deleted by the Utah State Legislature in 1953

edit

We should consider creating this. Deleted: SR-34, SR-58, SR-75, SR-77, SR-79, SR-85, SR-89, SR-93, SR-127, SR-138, SR-156, SR-160, SR-161, SR-164, SR-168, SR-169, SR-191, SR-192, SR-202, SR-205, SR-211, SR-214, SR-215, SR-227, SR-231, SR-237, SR-238, SR-240, part of SR-121 Enough to make a page?

There are certainly enough routes deleted in 1953 to make a page out of them, but the only holdup I see is the lack of information on them. --Roadguy2 (talk) 18:32, 1 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm making a draft right now.Alexlatham96 (talk) 02:20, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Title of this article

edit

In my opinion, the title of this article is excessively long and redundant. The article is a large list of state routes that were deleted in 1969. The part about the legislature is redundant, since they're the only entity that can delete them (since all routes are legislatively defined in the first place. As a result, I propose this article be renamed to List of Utah State Routes deleted in 1969. --Roadguy2 (talk) 00:35, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't like the word deleted, because by and large, the roadways are still there. –Fredddie 06:22, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, we could also use "decommissioned", but apparently that has had issues in the past (see Talk:List_of_road-related_terminology#Decommission). I only suggested "deleted" because that's the language used in official UDOT documents (here's an example, and it seems to be the Wikipedia standard for state routes in Utah. Maybe "removed" or "eliminated" could also work. Roadguy2 (talk) 16:42, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

State highways deleted by the Utah State Legislature in 1969List of Utah State Routes deleted in 1969 – Current title is long and redundant. This would be shorter and more to-the-point. I'm starting this instead of moving it myself because I realize it may be controversial. Roadguy2 (talk) 18:03, 5 January 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 19:53, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I propose a different move as per Draft:State highways deleted by the Utah State Legislature in 1953, to Defunct Utah state highways, which will contain all defunct Utah state highways (includes the ones in this article and in my draft article State highways deleted by the Utah State Legislature in 1953. Alexlatham96 (talk) 02:14, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why do we have to use "highway" instead of "route"? (This goes for List of state highways in Utah, too). The way UDOT seems to use the terms, a "state highway" is a roadway that the state maintains, and a "state route" is a series of these roadways identified by a number. All the articles use the form "Utah State Route xx", so aren't we really listing the state routes in these articles? Roadguy2 (talk) 03:22, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Change to "List of Utah State Routes deleted in 1969". (talk) 03:10, 11 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
