Not the first of its kind
editThe article writes:"It was located in Uppsala and as a governmental agency, it was the world’s first of its kind".Please, the first governmental agency for eugenics was founded by Lenin on January, 1918.Its first president was Trotsky himself. In 1930 decade, former Soviet Union decided to support his own kind of eugenics, the lysenkoism.Agre22 (talk) 00:41, 27 May 2009 (UTC)agre22
What was really the new name of the institute?
editAccording to the title page of the dissertation by Lars Beckman A contribution to the physical anthropology and population genetics of Sweden: variations of the ABO, Rh, MN and P blood groups. Hereditas (Lund), 0018-0661 ; 45(1959) the name of the institute at 1959 was The State Institute for Human Genetics and not Institute for Medical Genetics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.239.76.45 (talk) 14:16, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- This study from 1947 http://www.pnas.org/content/33/12/359.full.pdf calls it STATE INSTITUTE OF RACE BIOLOGY AND HUMAN GENETICS. This source calls it State Institute for Human Genetics and Race Biology, in 1939 prokaryotes (talk) 09:02, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Statens institut för rasbiologi → Swedish State Institute for Racial Biology – This English language name is used by the University of Uppsala[1]. Scandinavian Journal of History[2]
I'm unsure if "Swedish" needs to be in the name and should it only use "State Institute for X", but atleast an English name should be used. Pudeo (talk) 14:23, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- I support moving it to the English name. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 16:04, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support, without the 'Swedish' per WP:ENGLISH. It seems that SIRB is the standard English name. kennethaw88 • talk 02:08, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support, per WP:ENGLISH and wide use of the English name. I am undecided on the "Swedish" prefix, as while searching for "State Institute for Racial Biology" mostly returns the Swedish instance I am unsure whether this may cause confusion with other racial institutions from the era in other countries.--Bob not snob (talk) 07:37, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
