Question

edit

How is it possible the engine stopped, leaving the ship dead in the water, but the paddle wheel was still churning when the first lifeboat was lowered? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.79.14.15 (talkcontribs) 16:00, 8 September 2005

Relationship between Cornelius and Jacob Vanderbilt?

edit

The reader will probably infer a familial relationship, and is is a fairly safe assumption, but can we specify or rule out the relationship? Seems best not to leave something like that hanging in the reader's mind. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.223.125.168 (talk) 08:31, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good pick up. This says Jacob and Cornelius were brothers. IgnorantArmies 11:21, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

US Naval Institute typo

edit

The US Naval Institute 2022 Holiday Catalog lists a book about this disaster, "Death by Fire and Ice". The blurb says "All but one passenger and three members of the crew survived." Pretty clearly a typo... Mcswell (talk) 05:02, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
