The average survival rate

edit

The average survival rate figure states that the survival after a stroke is only one year, but this is dated from 2008, 16 years ago. Even then, stroke survival rates depend on many factors- where in the brain it occurred, age, history of previous stroke or TIA or cardiovascular/neurovascular disease or other serious condition (especially kidney or liver disease), how long before EMTs arrived or until arrival at ER, and whether the patient was treated quickly in a hospital, ideally a large level I trauma center with a stroke center. It's likely not 1% anymore.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.47.132 (talk) 20:03, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Stroke and the opening declarative statement

edit

Stroke is a very loose term clinically.

NOT all stroke events are actually caused by underlying disease states -

Consider trauma, spontaneous dissections, idiopathy etc. Perhaps semantics - but being so strident at the get go - not sure - think it was fine tbh.

I agree. If notable, any medical conditions similar to stroke or containing the term "stroke", should be created as standalone articles, and then mentioned in stroke (disambiguation). — CrafterNova [ TALK ] [ CONT ] 14:05, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

"In 2023, 15 million people worldwide had a stroke.[17] In 2021, stoke was the third biggest cause of death, responsible for approximately 10% of total deaths.[18]"

Stroke is misspelled. "stoke" should be replaced by "stroke" 193.163.150.131 (talk) 13:45, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
