It was proposed in this section that Supreme Assembly (Uzbekistan) be renamed and moved to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

Supreme Assembly (Uzbekistan) → Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan – In Uzbekistan it's never called "Высшее собрание" and in English we either call it Parlament or Oliy Majlis. Helge.kim (talk) 11:52, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Oliy Majlis does not appear to be English, so maybe better to discuss this move — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:48, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- We don't need "of Uzbekistan" and it fails WP:CONCISE. The redirect Oliy Majlis already targets this article, and since that's Uzbek language it seems unlikely that any other supreme assembly would be called this in English-language sources. On a separate point, with Dáil Éireann ("Assembly of Ireland") and Bundestag ("League Council"),. Dewan Rakyat ("People's Assembly") &c. we have precedent for using another language for a national assembly. 85.238.91.38 (talk) 03:11, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Uzbekistan's governmental sites use "the Oliy Majlis" and there's a lot of cases like Verkhovna Rada ("The Supreme Council") or Riksdag. (Sites: CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, The National Ombudsman, Parlament's official site). In Russian Wikipedia, Oliy Majlis is not called "Vyszeje Sobranie" and as an Uzbekistan's resident, I've never heard of anyone calling the Parliament as "Supreme Assembly". :) User talk:Helge.kim
- Yes, "Supreme Assembly" seems a clumsy translation, and of other WPs only Spanish and Greek use that form (Esperanto uses "parlamento" but starts with "La Oliy Majlis...", all others use either the bare name or disambiguate with the local name for "[Republic of] Uzbekistan".) Different lanuage versions of WP have different guidelines, but that may serve as a clue to the worldwide consensus.
- So, I support a Move to Oliy Majlis as a natural disambiguation, redirects can handle other English translations. My previous "Oppose" was only to the "of Uzbekistan" bit, but I've removed it entirely instead of striking it, for clarity 85.238.91.38 (talk) 09:09, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
