The result of this discussion was to Split. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:34, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

This article is hashing up two distinct entities - the Republic of Syria under French Mandate (1930-46) and the independent Syrian Republic (1946-58), which obviously need to be separated, just as State of Greater Lebanon and Lebanon or Mandatory Iraq and Kingdom of Iraq. Propose to split.GreyShark (dibra) 13:54, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reassessing the proposal - should be Mandatory Syrian Republic and Republic of Syria (1946-63).GreyShark (dibra) 07:43, 16 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reinstall proposal

edit

I'm reinstalling the split proposal to divide the article to Mandatory Syrian Republic (or Syrian Republic (1930–46)) and Syrian Republic (1946–63).GreyShark (dibra) 05:13, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Article moved

edit

@Danrolo:, could you please explain your move? The article is specifically about the Syrian Republic, an entity that was subsumed into the United Arab Republic in 1958, and when secession happened (1961) it was renamed Syrian Arab Republic (see for example [1]). Golan

edit

Does Golan Heights count? I think its best to include it in the today section as Northern District since Israel has de facto control. 135.23.145.49 (talk) 01:21, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Syrian Republic (1946–63)Syrian Republic (1946–1963) – – Per WP:DATERANGE, the FULL four-digit years should be written out in any given date range on Wikipedia (with the exception of one-year periods which can be written either way: 1923–1924 or 1923–24). The above moves should be made to fit within Wikipedia's guidelines. See the similar requested move for the "History of the United States" pages, the "History of New York City" pages, the "List of Florida/North Carolina/Texas hurricanes" pages, the "List of California ballot propositions" pages, the "Pride of Performance Awards" pages, the "Toyota concept vehicles" pages, and the "One Life to Live storylines" pages.

Did this as a regular Requested Move instead of a Technical Request just in case there was any controversy. Paintspot Infez (talk) 14:05, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Greyshark09: Please avoid using unattested names such as "Mandatory Syrian Republic" for articles titles. --Recruos (talk) 12:21, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
You should discuss it first per WP:BRD, before WP:BOLD moves.GreyShark (dibra) 12:33, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Greyshark09: same, I am opposed to the changes because it is the same regime. --Panam2014 (talk) 07:48, 12 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Turkish language in Syria

edit

The Turkish language was also recognized in Syria as minority language and spoken by Syrian Turkmens. --191.115.16.39 (talk) 22:14, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

You cannot be treated as a reliable source by wikipedia, and thus you must add a reliable third-party source to back up your claim! Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 22:36, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Democratic election of Hatay

edit

Hatay and Iskenderun Region have decided to go to an election in order to stay as a independent republic or join to the Turkey. Only the local people have decided to join Turkey. I'll add more sources and additions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rafaleetouragan (talkcontribs) 21:17, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
