Section Rewrites
editApologizes if there is a better place to do this, but I do think the entire '2000s' section should be rewritten. I've done some temporary fixes and changes in the meantime, but a more thorough rewrite would greatly increase the quality of the article. Or do people think just some general tone improvement and citations is enough?

The Michael Hofmann of 1860 Munich is not the same as the author/translator of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hofmann
Reassessment
editB-class "It is suitably referenced, and all major points are appropriately cited." => there are absolutly no inline refs, imho this is not B. Sorry. Greetings. Sebastian scha. (talk) 16:59, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- No need to be sorry, you are perfectly correct. Madcynic (talk) 19:26, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
TSV 1860 München Task Force
editI'm looking for a group of people who would like to do operate a TSV 1860 München Task Force for WikiProject Munich. Please contact me if you would like to be involved. Kingjeff (talk) 16:05, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Ground share confusion
edit- After a decade in the top division, 1860 spectacularly burnt out in the 2003–04 season with a 17th place finish that returned the club to the 2. Bundesliga. Wildmoser made the extremely controversial decision to co-habitate with hated rivals Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, a move that outraged fans and led to accusations of a sell-out. His downfall came when he and his son Karl-Heinz Wildmoser Jr. were caught in a bribery scandal around the awarding procedure for the contract to build the stadium.
From what I can ascertain from reading the article, had they not already ground-shared for 30 years with Bayern at the Olympiastadion? Needs clarifying. --Jamieli (talk) 22:11, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- They did not share grounds with Bayern for the entirety of these thirty years but played at teh old stadium for lengthy periods. Also, the Olympiastadion was owned by the city of Munich, while the Allianz Arena was originally - and controversally - co-owned by the two rival clubs. Str1977 (talk) 17:37, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved — Amakuru (talk) 19:01, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
– User:Kingjeff moved the article to TSV 1860 Munich but I reverted this move on the grounds that the move of a relatively high profile German football article should have consensus, especially when it has been, as much as I can see, at the current name for the duration of the articles existence, 12 years. I also objected to the article being moved while the categories were left at the old name with no effort made to initiate a move. Kingjeff's argument that it should be at the English title has however some merit as it would follow Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports teams). In regards to my own opinion I'm neutral in regards to the article title, either suits me provided related articles and categories carry the same name. A discussion was started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football but, I fell, the articles talk page is the better location. Calistemon (talk) 08:20, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

- I support a move and would like to refer to my argument here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MephistoGF (talk • contribs) 08:52, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support per the argument linked to above, we should use Munich. Also, the category should be moved (although I believe that needs a separate discussion). Joseph2302 (talk) 23:13, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support – The naming convention for sports teams states:
- The name is used on the English-language section of the club's official website,
- The name has been adopted at least by a significant section of the English-language media and it is recognizable,
- The name is not easily confused with other clubs' names.
I couldn't find any official english website. Therefore, the first point can't really have any influence in the discussion since they don't have an english website. Here, here, and here are three examples where the media clearly has Munich instead of München. The second point favour the switch. I don't see anything confusing with the switch. Kingjeff (talk) 05:27, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support - for the same reason FC Bayern Munich has been a stable name for a long time (since creation if I'm correct?). GiantSnowman 07:13, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- 'Comment – Yet another example of the media using Munich instead of München. This is the fifth example provided. Kingjeff (talk) 03:53, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Comment:The move also will need to include the six articles in Category:TSV 1860 München seasons and FC Augsburg–TSV 1860 München rivalry. Calistemon (talk) 08:44, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- We don't need consensus for anything other than the main article. There is no controversy once consensus is met for the main article. Kingjeff (talk) 15:00, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support - Just for the record. You can find my arguments above. --MephistoGF (talk) 10:19, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
