Kicking off the article
editThis info seems to be sometimes eliminated in various edit wars elsewhere, so it now has its own home. Naturally the article is under development, adn is not in any stateof "perfection". Terminological issues as to whether such Israeli strikes should be called "assasinations" or "counterattacks" or whether targeted Palestinian groups should be called "terrorists" or "freedom fighters", should be kept in the context of expressing the views of opponents and proponents of the subject policy. There is plenty of room for opponents or opponents to make their case, and such will occur because the topic is controversial. Please document all claims with references per Wikipedia policy, versus blanket statements. Enriquecardova 19:06, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

editReargun, I have reverted your recent changes made to the article. Please before making substancial changes discuss it here in the talk page. Cooperation is an only way to make article neutral and better.--Jim Fitzgerald (talk) 07:54, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think all of section 4.3 needs to be either reworked or deleted. The claims have no citations and read like an editorial. Sol Goldstone (talk) 19:07, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Israeli targeted killings
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Israeli targeted killings's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 21:07, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Targeted killings by Israel Defense Forces
editMoved page to Targeted killings by Israel Defense Forces.
Now more clear and specific to topic, in line with other pages on same topic, so as to improve both uniformity and standardization.
Any other opinions, please, feel free to change it yourself and/or discuss here.

Inconsistencies of language
editIsraeli state killings are titled Targeted Killings for Israel, but state killings for Iran are "assasinations". Obvious breach of neutrality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.167.194.190 (talk) 23:09, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- Could you please specify where precisely Iranian state killings are called assassinations? Debresser (talk) 23:31, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

- Good question. No answer. Perhaps you should raise this question somewhere. Don't even have a suggestion where to go. Debresser (talk) 22:22, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

I am raising this question somewhere, right here. Why don't you try changing the words to the politically neutral and objective term "assassination" like it is on other pages rather than clouding and biasing wikipedia with newspeak and then protecting the article from edits you don't like? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.167.194.79 (talk) 11:53, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well, some use newspeak, while others speak Orwellian. In any case, I think I am operating within Wikipedia standards when I insist that you should obtain consensus before you make any serious changes like these. I doubt whether this rather obscure talkpage is where this question should be raised in order to establish some sort of wider consensus.
- By the way, I hope you noticed and appreciated my contributions to the List of Iranian assassinations article you mentioned?
- Obviously it's the case that we should use consistent language describing killings by the Iranian and Israeli governments. My preference would be the term assassination, because it's direct, and honest. I'm not sure what place is best to bring this up. Perhaps the Neutral POV noticeboard first - or they'd have further advice. -Darouet (talk) 04:10, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Targeted killings by the Israel Defense Forces → Targeted killings and Israel – This article is a hodgepodge of information about Israel's use of targeted killings. It includes policy background, military information, references to targeted killings across the Israeli security community (not just the IDF), and discusses the subject of Israel's use of targeted killings more broadly. New title more accurately reflects the subject of the article. Longhornsg (talk) 19:24, 18 August 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Adumbrativus (talk) 20:48, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Support move to Israeli targeted killings which the article was called from 2007 until 2013 when the IDF part was added. Is it just Palestininians?Selfstudier (talk) 10:51, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose proposal. No 'and'! Srnec (talk) 20:09, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- Targeted killings by Israel or Targeted killings on behalf of Israel or Targetted killings by Israeli forces? — BarrelProof (talk) 22:17, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Support Israeli targeted killings or Targeted killings by Israel - the page covers a range of relevant outfits. Iskandar323 (talk) 08:31, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose proposed name with no rational for the use of "and." I would support a move to Targeted killings by Israel.Esolo5002 (talk) 18:46, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
Mahmoud Adani
editThe article currently states that Israel assassinated Mahmoud Adani, but I can find no reference to this person except citogenesis. ATDT (talk) 03:23, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- I removed the name Mahmoud Adani from the article. ATDT (talk) 14:39, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
