Best way to go about this article

Is this the best way to write this article? What with the large images and all it seems rather roundabout. Does there really need to be an image for every stage of the development and should they be in those boxes? Herr Beethoven (talk) 02:39, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Federal Republic of Central America

The Wikipedia article on the Federal Republic of Central America says that it "was a sovereign state in Central America [existing] from September 1821 to 1841". That conflicts with the section "1821–1824" of the present article on the Territorial evolution of Mexico.

Which is correct?

This is a fine article. I hope this comment can make it better.

By the way, I'm trying to create a table and plot showing the land area of New Spain and Mexico from, say, 1783. I hope to add it to my Wikiversity article on v:Nuclear weapons and effective defense -- if I can produce something that seems sufficiently accurate to be useful. land area of the US and New Spain / Mexico since 1783

The following summarizes what I've been able to compile regarding the evolution of the land area of New Spain / Mexico since 1783: In 1783 the brand new United States was less than a third of the size of New Spain / Mexico. Today the situation is essentially reversed: The US is now over three times the size of Mexico. I think it would be good to add a plot of these numbers to the current article, Territorial evolution of the United States, and Territorial evolution of North America since 1763 -- or at least put it in the latter with links from the former.

However, my estimates of the land area involved in each of the adjustments in this article is short by roughly 8 or 9 percent of the land area of Mexico. I wonder if anyone can help me find the discrepancy? When I did the same for the US, the numbers came out close enough that the discrepancy could be a matter of exactly what definition is used. For example, to what extent are bodies of water counted?
